I think religion is part ouf peoples culture... look at sculpptures, architecture, writings and paintings, music instruments, ideologies troughout the history backing up the church or other way round. Religion shaped societies and is still part of our world whether you for yourself chose to believe or not. It would be a shame to lose all that or abandon the creativity behind these thoughts. I'm not from the UK but I'd say a lot of people here are so in the interest of people here, I looked at the rate of non-religion and Christianity in the UK, based on how much Christianity is declining and how much non-religion is rising this is what I got.
2010: Christianity (44%), Non-Religion (51%)
2030: Christianity (29%), Non-Religion (64%)
2050: Christianity (15%), Non-Religion (77%)
2070: Christianity (1%), Non-Religion (88%)
2090: Christianity (less than 1%), Non-Religion (above 99%)
@deanmullen10 to be quite honest i dont think it will take that long, the stats say this country is around 50% but that is according to a census that has a misleading question , also the British consider themselves Christian even when they simply think about religion. to the average brit god is a superstition like ghosts.

@theUKatheist I agree with your assertion on the current rate of atheists in the UK. Given the increased rate of immigration from Muslim nations however, I think its more likely the rates may stay the same for some time.

Infact, both Christopher Hitchens and Bill Maher himself have cracked jokes or spoken out against his audience.
