That had to be a great night for Preston Manning. He started the movement in the mid-late 80s, and finally he got his government. I'm not a Conservative, but I'm always happy for the winner. They won because the majority voted for them. I found it interesting how there was almost a univeral admiration for Jack Layton. It's too bad his life was cut so short. BTW, I'd say the same thing if it was Stephen Harper. We all need to stop hating each other based on politics.

Chretien used Mr. Mulroney's GST revenues, the economic surge after Mr. Mulroney's FTA (both items Chretien vowed in the election to eliminate) and the stealing of much of the transfer payments to the provinces (which destroyed health care to this day). Chretien certainly has a lot to answer for.
