Yeah, I got this entire concert on two DVDs, definetly worth what I paid for them. An awesome show everyone ought to own! And just look at what you are supporting wow.
Page never had to try to attract attention. He just got it because he is awesome. I dont think anyone gets in to it as much as him. He just lets loose and goes. Dont get me wrong, I love Beck as much as I love Page. But this is Page not at the best of health and look and listen what he does when the three trade licks during Tulsa Time of the same concert series. Just do a search for Tulsa Time Arms Concert.
This is funny if you know that during his session days and early yardbirds days Jimmy played on the studio version of this, then came zep, and after Zep there he is again playing for Joe xDDD
According to the man himself he never stopped drinking altogether until 1987 which he calls his AA dry date. Eric has spent millions of his own money helping others get sober with a treatment center in the Carribean somewhere and 1/3 of the beds are free to the locals who ask for help. Eric takes his sobriety very seriously and shows his gratitude with efforts such as these.
@maxieppower and the woman from houston who ronnie picked to run his foundation ended up ripping off all the money, a very sad ending, all the money these great musicians raised was blown by a conniving bitch, pretty low stealing money meant for the research of a particually brutal disease
@jroxx11211 - You are a ****ing sheep to continue to spout that lie. She was cleared by the courts and by the musicians. An overzealous Texas Attorney General ruined this organization and her life.
BS. She was cleared by the musicians, the courts and the fans. People like you can easily remember the scandal, but don't care to find the ultimate facts.
@mmccoin1 in fact, she wasnt cleared, she agreed to make restitution so she could avoid jail time, and then the charges would be dropped, all parties wanted to avoid a lengthy and costly trial, she was still a thief and an embezzeler, you seem to have a selective memory, a thief is a thief, she was a lowlife degenerate for robbing a charity that benefits a debilitating disease, shame on you for defending her!!!
@jroxx11211 That is simply not true. Ronnie Lane came to the US to have increased use of HBO treatments. The HBO Medical Center he went to was founded by Mae Nacol, the lawyer in question. They started US ARMS. Later, Barbara Leigh Hunt, the president of ARMS had a fight with the organization and was ousted. She began an effort to discredit everybody and got the Texas AG involved. Ronnie Lane himself was charged with fraud and negligence. Are you calling him a thief and embezzler as well?
@mmccoin1 i keep forgetting you were actually there, instead of just reading about it like everybody else, ronnie told me before he died he did everything he could to distance himself from the organisation he started, i dont remember seeing you there, as i was living in houston at the time and doing charity work for my church that was providing hospice care. you keep believing what you want, one day in your mind, it might actually come true!
@jroxx11211 - Did you read my response? Ronnie was charged as well. The whole US-ARMS organization became mired in crap. Everybody involved tried to run as far away as possible. The problem was that Texas Monthly wrote an article about his onetime friend and executive secretary (Nacol) , when the questionable practices came from the president of the thing(Hunt), who in turn tried to throw everybody under the bus.
@maxieppower: Wrong, Jimmy Page was still on drugs in 1983. Clapton kicked heroin ten years earlier and was just getting sober from alcohol addiction.
@bohemian4all: If I remember correctly he quit drinking after that stomach ailment almost killed him in, I think 1981. But just stopping drinking does not mean an alcoholic is "sober". I'm curious, do you know if AA awarded him sobriety in 1987?
@tomthefunky Yeah, just look at his teeth in close up photos. Photos indicated he turned into a "FAT FUCK" and heroin free right before " THE FIRM". I think that saved his life, thank you god!!!
@ThePurplejaguar Page was trying to attract attention. Likewise Clapton, more politely but still not cool. OTOH, I can identify the Beck trademark guitar scream instantly. He doesn't make eye contact, except with his guitar, the wall and occasionally bandmates. Been that way since I saw him in '68.

@ThePurplejaguar At that stage Eric was well into his drug addiction and Beck has never been comfortable on stage.
Justy a side note although this gig was arranged for Ronnie Lane's benfit specifically, he gave all the money to a Multiple Sclerosis charity
