  • were did you get the drift wood

  • incredibly clean tank.. awesome.. nice selection of fish..

  • @zednem2 thank you!

  • didnt the bigger cichlids ate the smaller corys??im afraid my firemouth will eat my old cory anyday..

  • @yomonstruo I never had any problems with these cichlids trying to eat any of the cory cats. Firemouths arent very carnivorous in nature and in the wild, the live things that they eat are worms and crustaceans, and they rarely eat other fish unless they are very small, such as fish fry, or newborn fish. I've never heard of a firemouth cichlid attacking and eating cory catfish...or any other fish really..they just dont seem to have that hunting instinct for fish like larger cichlids do.

  • i have a 55 gallon with 7 tetras a redline shark and a small pleco i wanted to get a parrot fish but iam worried it will eat my other fish

  • one problem man to many fish and if your oscar still in their in will msot of the stuff in their lol

  • nice fish, what filter do you have?

  • @icisco two Marineland Emperor 400's

  • @BingX14

This cichlid tank is sick i like how you put the tetras and cory cats with the cichlids

this is one of the best tankis ive seen

  • @iKeepCichlids Thank You!

  • @BingX14

no problem, can you post an update of this tank?

    IKC

  • what kind of light are you using?

  • when my blood parrots are hungry theylike pound on the tank lids until i come and if i dont feed them they will be mad.

  • This looks awesome with the black gravel. Your parrot cichlid's beautiful coloring just looks absoulty stunning with that dark gravel. Wonderful decorations, i love that log, that looks all twisted and fancy. Where did you get that. Its not like real wood is it, its gorgeous, makes me want the same tank you have lol. But yeah parrot cichlids are my favorite too! I have a 55 gallon tank =)

  • If you would like get another blood parrot they are cool especially if you have more than 1 the bully usally follows the smaller guy to chase im but all they could do is push

  • What happend to the giant danios you had?

  • yeah you can do that, as ive seen it be done lots of times. Just make sure that the pictus catfish are are as close to adult size as possible when you buy them. If your oscars are small (under 4 inches) then you won't have to worry, but if you have a large oscar, it may try to eat new, small pictus cats. Adult pictus are large enough for the oscars not to bother them, plus, pictus have a large spine in their dorsal fin that discourages most predators as its VERY painful to get stabbed by

  • pictus cats like to be in groups so a nice group of 3 or 4 pictus will be very happy in 55 gallons and up. the oscar should leave the pictus alone if they are relatively large when you purchase them. there are multiple species of pictus cats..make sure you get pimelodus pictus, as they grow to 5-6 inches. the other most common species is pimelodella pictus (a.k.a. four-line pictus) which can grow 10inches to a foot. he regular pimelodus pictus, in my opinion, have much better patters and color

  • actually in the wild id sharks/pangasius catfish get to around 4 ft but in an aquarium most of the time they stunt there growth and what that leads to is death. when a fish stunts its grow its body stops growing but its organs continue to grow so it will die and maybe even explode. also if the tank isnt large enough it will have deformities.

  • @seBEASTa92 id sharks get pretty big it will probably outgrow your tank pretty soon. your jack and oscar get along?

  • thats cool i really like ID Sharks, be careful though, they get HUGE! they wont bother your oscar or JD but they need huge tanks! really really cool fish though, ive always wanted one!

  • Well i am getting a 55 soon so i will have two and i am going to move 3fish from the first one wich is one firemouth and 2blood parrotfishthen i will buy others so i will have 3 fms 2 bps 5 serpae tetrass 6 tbs and 4 silver dollars and 2 rubber lipped plecos

  • I've already started looking for a 125 gallon tank for these guys

  • Do you still have that 45

  • nahh, well kinda...i didn't sell it or anything but i set it up in my brothers apartment...hes got multiple tanks but in the 45 gallon i gave him, hes currently has some really nice Julidochromis cichlids, which come from Lake Tanganyika

  • WOW ima leave it at that

  • wow how big is your aquarium?

for some reason my aquarium still gets tannins!!!! even though i soaked it for a week, and everyweek it makes my water turn tannin, and i thought it would go away by then...

  • 75 gallons, but I'm thinking that a 125 gallon tank is in the near future ;) .Yeah i had the same problem with these two pieces leeching tannins...i soaked them for a few days but the tannins still come back. The wood will eventually leech out less and less tannins but it will always give off a certain amount as long as its in the tank. I actually am really liking the darker brown color it looks more natural(the water has gotten quite a bit darker since this vid lol)

  • yeaah lol everytime i look at mine i always think it looks dirty LOL! i want mine crystal clear like yours!! ):

  • getting a 125 isnt realy different than a 75 because it is the same width just longer and taller (wider is always better because you can have a longer/larger fish. stick with the 150 it is a much better choice because it is wider taller and longer than the 75. if you want a 6ft tank go for a 180.

  • sorry i had so many words misspelled i ran out of space so i had to shorten the words. also buy some air stones for the distribution of the air from the air pump.

  • dont forget to introduce both the oscars into the tank at the same time or else the one you put in first will claim the tank as his territory and aggressively defend it normally ending in one of them dying due to injuries or stress.

  • haha thanks, thats cool. what size tank are your two oscars chillen in?

  • great community tank you've go going there. now if you dont want to get rid of any of your fish all you have to do is buy a good air pump which will provide the tank with more oxygen counteracting the overstocking. also didnt you say you were gonna buy a 180g? if you have any questions regarding your aquariums you can ask me and i will answer them.

  • hey thanks, you've been really helpful. so a nice air pump, and ill be fine? and of course ill still do my weekly water changes and keep the filters in very good shape. Because i'd hate to have to get rid of any fish, as i really really like how the tank has turned out in terms of fish species. and if i said 180 gallon, sorry i mean 150 gallons lol. but that won't be for a WHILE because this 75 gal. is still pretty new and the costs of a 150 gallons...i cant get to it now.

  • but ill deff be on the look out for a good sized air pump. other than that, you think these guys will be fine in here as they grow? because i mean if i have to, i will remove some fish and donate them to my local fish store, i've done it before

  • yea ur doin prety gud to start wit, wit da duble filtration and weekly water changes and all u need is a strong air pump which u can get from Petsmart for a prety gud price. i wud recomend the Topfin 125 model. it decent for a 125g tank and it only around $25 or $30. i bot a couple Topfin air pumps and they are still runin perfect. i hav had dem for a year and a half now an there is no maintenance required. the 125 model also has 2 outlets so you can have bubles on each side of the tank.

  • thanks! mean a lot, but now i've overstocked the tank again... :( I'm going to have to remove some fish at some point...what do you you, or anyone else think i should remove in order to help the overstocked issue?

  • Sweet.

  • thanks!

  • and what do you think about my comment above?

  • @BingX14, I think that all the fish are awesome. My suggestion is to just get a bigger tank. It would suck to have to get rid of any of those fish.

  • I'm right there with ya! I really would love to get a 150 gallon but im not sure i have the right place for it...I have a perfect spot for a standard 125 gallon though...so hopefully in the future!
