I have this phone for Koodo Mobile ... The battery isn't that great in it and it does get kind of hot, but other than that I'm fairly happy with it.

I just switched to Koodo mobile. Started with the Samsung, it sucks, going to get the KRZR instead I think.

NO it's not. Because that type of metal causes condensation to occur inside the phone, causing the battery's indicator to show that it has been exposed to water. This is the reason why I had to warranty it out so many times. They ended up just trading it in for a phone with similar features. The VX8700 ruined my SD card as well, which Verizon did not exchange. If you buy it, just keep it inside at all times.

By the way you did not mention anything about the terrible sound quality. I have "How to Save a Life" by The Fray as my ringtone and it sounds absolutely horrible.

That's funny, even the review says that the sound quality isn't the best. (In other words, the speaker for ringtones suck).

This phone is the biggest piece of crap I have ever had. LG is the worst brand ever. I had a Samsung A900 phone and it survived a car crash in a bad storm. It was bent to hell but everything worked perfect on it. This damn thing can't even handle a few months of casual use. I don't text much (200-500 texts a week) and a 400 minute plan and this thing has messed up a lot. Not to mention the ringtone sound quality is HORRIBLE. and only 1 plugin for headphones, charger, etc.

Maybe you should stop text messaging on the phone, because cell-phones are not intended for that purpose, even though, text messaging is built into the cell-phone. I have the LG 8700 and so far, no problems. Great phone, and the hell with everyone else who criticizes. XD

Stop texting on a phone? If a phone cannot "handle" being used for text messaging then the phone should not be sold on the market.

Did LG pay you to say nice things about it? Where can I sign up for something like that?

BTW the "brush metal look" scratches up very easily. I wear denim jeans and the phone looks like it's been sliding all over the floor. The only thing this phone has going for itself is the 2.0mp camera but even then it seems to lack in that area as well.

Well, if you want something fancy then buy it, rather than, complain how horrible the LG 8700 is. Everyone expects so much from technology nowadays, so become INVENTORS for gods sakes. Maybe you're a bright bulb but you don't know it.

From the way the guy at the Verizon store was talking, this phone was the greatest thing since color TV. I expect a phone not to malfunction within a few months, I apologize if this is too much to ask for from LG. I'm a premed student so i'm pretty sure i'm a bright bulb ;)

this is phone is actually the flip phone version of the "lg shine" which is rumored to be coming to verizon so that will be probably be the upgrade to this phone. I was looking at this phone for a while , i alwyas need to have the best phone but this phone is prob. the best flip phone for verizon. Its a little to pricy considering there are no good features. The screen is very bright and nice though i give this phone a 6 of 10.

I explored its features at the Verizon stand in the mall... It doesn't feature a video camera and you have to turn the phone sideways to look at the outer screen... U want interesting with outer music controls, and a video camera, check out the KRZR K1m...

Actually it has a camcorder and you can set the clock to be vertical so you don't have to turn it sideways.

yes.. it does have a camcorder.. and krzrs are motorola so therefore they are very slow and sluggish. i would go with this phone
