It is with sadness that I inform my fellow YouTubers that Patricia Breslin, who played Mandy Peoples Miller on The Peoples Choice, passed away on Wednesday at age 80.
For the record, this is the second episode of the second season of The People's Choice. It's called "The Mayor Proposes," and it was originally broadcast on 18 October 1956.
Mandy (Patricia Breslin) was my first crush. And who could forget the inimitable Cleo and Mayor Peoples. Socrates Miller (Soc), the only Socrates in television history. You had to watch that show just to hear them say Soc. But the writing was brilliant and it was hilarious as well. The 50s and 60s were the heyday of TV sitcoms and dramatic series. The garbage they have today is an embarassment.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this!!! I've been looking for it for years. I used to watch it in reruns back in the early 90s. Such a great show!
"The People's Choice" ran on NBC between October 1955 and September 1958. The vVoice of Cleo the dog was supplied by Mary Jane Croft, who's greatest fame came as Clara on "Ozzie & Harriet" (1956-66) and "The Lucy Show"/"Here'[s Lucy" (1965-74).
