  • Playing this piece at a guitar competition in mississippi..definatly a real cool song! a cool

  • Excellent feel of a classic Brouwer piece.

  • my brother would play this for me when i was younger

  • Nice interpretation! Very clean and clear. Although, since this is a lullaby, I feel like it should be slowed down a bit. I sent you the wrong video as a video response, you can decline that response. I'll send the other in a bit.

  • I love this song sooo much! I'm learning how to play it right now!

    You've done a good job!

  • @CGMan15

You want him to drop his shorts? Why not just listen and enjoy, instead of getting hung-up on the "extra-musical". Perhaps it was 95 degrees in that place.

  • This is my favorite lullaby

  • CORRECTION: this piece titled "Drume Negrita", was composed by cuban ELISEO GRENET, NOT, I REPEAT, NOT BY BROUWER. Perhaps Mr. Brouwer did the guitar arrangement, but the piece is by ELISEO GRENET.

  • @jmvitiermusiclover : I always thought this piece was composed by Ignacio Jacinto Villa (aka) Bola de Nieve? I didn't know that it was by Eliseo Grenet Sanchez. Was it popularized by Bola de Nieve as his recording is one variation that is always heard? Thanks! GREAT JOB!

  • Absolutely breathtaking.

  • Excellent interpretation! Perfect tempo.

  • senores, si son de habla hispana porque cogno escriben en ingles. I am not chilean, nor cuban, but Nicaraguan. LET US SPEAK SPANISH!! gracias

  • tempo is spot on, even if it does get off abit, it is based of his interpretation of the song. 5 STARS!

  • cararb -

you are absolutely right about being blessed by this rendition and please don't let the more smallminded commenters here dissuade you. It is absolutely perfect tempo and key, visually warm and wonderful. We treasure it!

  • I think si typical presumptive american i els armonics del principi on estan my friend

  • it's too damn fast....

  • yea little to fast the Name of the Song is Bercuese which means Lullaby when u play imagine a Mother putting her kids to sleep it will song perfect then

  • Too fast...

    other than that, wonderfully played.

  • The perfectly typical American irreverence and bad taste: shorts and snickers in a church, while playing classical guitar. It almost spoils completely the effect of this exquisite musical performance. What a shame...

  • not many winston arblasters around these parts. maybe wells, england like the description says. typical presumptive american...

  • Dear Maestro Arblaster,

You play this so beautifully. I had only heard it played before by Parkening. Well, you have inspired me to learn this piece (I've been on a Brouwer kick lately - just learned Un Dia de Noviembre; not terribly difficult, but it takes some effort to make it musical and satisfy the length of the piece). Well anyway, I'm a new subscriber. I recognize, appreciate and enjoy you talent. Sincerely, Rick

  • 5 Starts to you for the flawless interpretation

  • The lyrics for that song was writen by

Chilean pedagogue, theatre director, poet, singer-songwriter, and political activist Victor Jara and the name is 'Duerme negrito' which portraits (a seldom paid) hard working widower in her quest to provide the bestr her child

  • LocoPc.., the author of Drume Negrita was written, text and music, by Cuban Eliseo Grenet also author for "Mamá Inés" wonderfully sang both by Bola de Nieve,

Cuban. You could appreciate the afro if you heard them in his voice. Leo Brower's is a version for guitart.

I loved Victor Jara as musician and man of principles.

  • Are you Chilean?.. cause if you're not.. I'm surprised you know Victor Jara

  • I am not chilean, but Cuban. Anyway, Victor Jara is known in more latinamerican other than Chile or Cuba, I must say.

  • it should be up soon

  • nice check out my version if you get time

  • Dear Catherinetodd, it's not derogatory, it's what it is. The playing is beautiful, the dress is so like, "I don't give a damn how I look, plus I think I look cute" kind of attitude, that's all. Anyway, let's hear him play without watching him. That's better.

  • Cannot agree more...

  • Ah, mystery solved! By reviewing all the comments, we see warblast84, the great musician himself, has explained the discrepancy of "the shorts and casual shoes."

This was posted 7 months ago, for all you who criticize without looking for "information" first. I'm glad he made & posted the video, myself!

warblast84: "You're right about the shorts. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing and didn't have a suit on me, so I just imagine that the chapel is in Havana or something."

    Well said!

  • temifv: "you have no class; you need to do a better job at hiding your mistakes; you need to shave . . . and so on . . ."

Why poison this page with such critical comments?

Close your eyes, pretend you are "blind" and LISTEN to this beautiful music. It is intended to transform your mind and bring you to a peaceful place. I hope this will happen for you.

  • I like this piece as you are presenting the most :-) very very nice

  • why are you playing classical guitar with that appearance? You had to be american, always showing your lack of culture (I did not say class...that's another topic)

  • Alhambra22: I understand your shock at seeing this musician dressed so casually in a beautiful church, playing this beautiful piece of music.

But we don't know the circumstances the video was made under. I don't know anyone who would do a "performance" in casual dress, "Americans" included, so perhaps this video was a made during a rehearsal. Who knows?

I would never post a derogatory comment about such beautiful playing. He could play in sackcloth and ashes for all I care. It's gorgeous.

  • Beautiful. First time I've seen/heard you. You've got another subscriber.

  • very nice job, on a gnarly and beautiful piece.

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • super!!!!!

  • this music is compose by eliseo grenet.arreimet by leo brouwer, nice but to fast and segon part see harmony.

  • Very nice piece, interpretation, location and light.

I like the shorts too... Why not?

I don't like the shoes though. Maybe,...

    better without shoes :)

  • Better yet, how about if he just records the next one completely naked. The guitar would be concealing the naughty bits, so I don't see why not.

  • Very nice recording, and I like your interpretation.

And if it's of any consolation, I like the shorts.

  • Very nice! I'll see you in History of Jazz on Wednesday!

  • Very Good! I like your interpretation. It is too bad you did not have a suit. Would have made a very fine promotion video. ^¿^

  • Thats a pretty sweet video. Awesome playing and a beautiful location.

  • You're right about the shorts. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing and didn't have a suit on me, so I just imagine that the chapel is in Havana or something.

  • @warblast84 fuck it man, wear whatever the fuck you want. Music isnt about clothing
