I am a 36 year old active male and have a torn Labrum and Bicep where they connect. I am having this Bicep Tenodesis surgery on November 10th, 2011. My Surgeon mentioned he will use a Staple to attach the bicep to bone. Is interference screw fixation stronger for load purposes or possess better results instead of Staples? I am very active and work out often. If anyone can help me out on this question, it would be greatly appreciated! -Kevin
Hey, great vid! I had the same thing done 5 years ago but had never seen the procedure on video. Amazing how they use a dissolving screw and the bone of the humorous grows over and holds the tendon in place. Glad I had it done after years of pain. My recovery was quite quick. I was back in the gym after 3 months, doing light weights and after 6 months it was stronger than the other shoulder.
@BuckeyeNation45 they cut the long head biceps tendon where it attaches to the labrum and then screw it in lower on humerus. by doing that, it stops it from pulling on the labrum or from getting stuck in the biceps groove (which in my case caused really bad tendinitis). I waited just over a year to fix it, recovery was about a year and not fun at all. but happy I no longer have any biceps problems since having it done. are you having it done?
@ljansen1102 Wow, a year to recover? I have a torn biceps tendon and am thinking about having it re-attached. I need decompression and my Dr. says he can do it at the same time. I sure don't want to be laid up for a year, my arm works pretty well as it is except for some cramping when I really use the biceps to twist something like a screwdriver.
