can anyone tell me how can i set the cue point to the sample editör which is at the right bottom of sequence window? but not want to mean arrange window
I can't believe Ableton hasn't demonstrated building/looping different song sections and a way to switch between sections, building taking away overdub loops on the fly.
Here's a simpler way to say -- STOP LOOPING THE SAME GODDAMN THING OVER AND OVER! Someone needs to get that message out to all the looper "artists".
Actually I do know what I'm talking about and I haven't seen Ableton demonstrate it.
They haven't put out a single video (that I can find) of a performing musician recording his loops (performance) on the fly and creating musically unique A, B, & C sections of a piece, and switching between A, B, & C, while overdubbing loops on top of A, B, & C. All of that and more are possible using just a 10 switch midi footswitch, no mousing etc. -- Have yet to see it (with musician). Please provide link.
I'm in the LA area. Do you have a recommendation for getting one on one instruction on Ableton Live. I'm a Pro Tools engineer, but I'm putting together a live solo act and I'd like to use Ableton.
If I use my Tascam FW-1884 mixer with Ableton Live, how would I hookup a sustain pedal in order to loop various inputs such as guitar or vocals that are inserted via 1/4" or XLR?
It looks like the FW-1884 has a standard footswitch input, so this should work the same as a standard MIDI controller. Just plug in a footswitch, map it to the Looper, and you should be all set.
This is just an old StudioLogic pedal that came with a controller keyboard. I've actually seen these types of pedals for as low as $10 online, and there are other comparable models for under $20.
Basically, any sustain-style pedal that connects to a footswitch input on a MIDI controller will work.
Can you assign a footpedal for the "drag me function", drag the first looped file(say guitar track) into a new clip without stopping its playback ,then start looping something else (say bass track) over it, drag it etc. So all looped tracks are in sync with first loop then can be assigned to seperate tracks and outputs ????
can you undo a loop? call it again? drag the first pass on to a track without interruption while your foot is ready to start another loop? can looper be controlled with another midi controller which might offer other functions to be tweaked, changed on the fly? please respond, it's been years trying to find the perfect one man set up.
as to @generatemusic question, am I able to separate the overdubs from original and throw them into separate channels for mixing?

To say that Sonar is a fail program is pretty moronic. It's a fantastic program.
I'll take Pro tools or Ableton depending on what i'm doing over it. And Cubase if I"m stuck on windows.
But still it's a damn powerful program. If you thing Sonar = Fail you are simply failing with it.

What pedal is he using? He said a normal 40 dollar sustain pedal? I've never seen one that cheap? Anyone know?

does the looper make separate files for each pass, or does it record them all in one file?
Thanks

it records everything into one file.
