There are always songs that I can relate to at one point or another, but I feel that this song in particular, is a song that I will Always be able to relate to. I cannot wait for his new album which I'm sure will not be anything less than amazing.
sure, this is better than the simple ones like daughters or your body is a wonderland, but ..i was kind of hoping he would do some more things like gravity, i don't trust myself and vultures. those three songs right there are my favourites, the ones i still listen to everyday, no matter what mood i'm in. he sounds too old and it reminds me of the older version of bruce springsteen. for me - it's to calm! (but ofc i like it, they both are gods in two different ways for me)
It never gets old the random bunch of silly little ppl arguing over ole johnny boy its not like he made it to where he is by dumb luck so how can anyone doubt his talent guess that's y were the ones watching him on stage
@RoyPortel and what about Bob Dylan?? and im more of a blues person myself, but im always open to as many styles as possible, didnt like this stuff at first, but im diggin john's interpretation of this stuff...
@RoyPortel No i am not this is an original.. but this is johns interpretation of bob dylans style, in which its just you and your guitar emptying your heart out into song.. the lyrics also represent john growing up and explaining about how he feels deep inside.. lots of johns songs have deeper meanings (except for maybe ybiaw.. xD) and i didnt mean sincere btw in the last comment i meant honest (got confused, english aint my first language..)
Yeah so, this new album might be Mayer's best. He seems to finally be finding the balance between being relevant and himself.
Ps. I wish I had a glass of fresh ice cold milk and a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies. Just thought you should all know. Thank you for your time.
When I first listened to this song, at 2AM a few months ago, I slowly started weeping. Which led to a few days of complete introversion and reflection on my life, which is influenced by John Mayer's music more than anyone really knows. Thank you, John. Thank you.
I really love these acoustic songs of him... even though I'm wondering how he eventually will "overproduce" it on an album lol *even then it sounds awesome
"Give your heart, then change your mind. You're allowed to do it. Cause God knows it's been done to you, and somehow you got through it." < Love this. John, you're a miracle worker.
@daliksheppy The other difference is that Dylan INVENTED the Singer/songwriter model and was an innovator lyrically almost 50 years ago. Mayer is an INCREDIBLE talent and someone I admire greatly, but definitely not a gamechanger like Dylan, the Beatles, etc.
@wyatbroadcasting i agree with you, but I think that everything (good) to be created in music already exists. if you came with something completely different, you're just another crazy. or genious. it seems stupid but these things are actually pretty close to each other. not just in music, but general art.
@alxlief even though, mayer is such an underated artist when it comes to guitar playing and songwriting. he still does not belong to that "GUITAR PLAYER" world, he's not known as a guitar player. john's lyrics are so deep and real, (in most of the songs) it's confessional, you can really feel that it was written not just to be a "cute love song", so that girls can buy it. his words are complex. maybe that's why people usually don't feel how amazing they are. they are hard to interpret.
This sounds like something that could turn out Split Screen Sadness wise, in the way that it is great acoustic, but if he does his little "overproducing" thing, it can sound BIG! :D GREAT song :)
second song of the new album.... :D :D ♥

John Mayer is getting more and more superficial, cliché en poppy every month.
Too bad. Bring back the trio!
RoyPortel 6 months ago
@RoyPortel dude this aint cliché and poppy... this is sincere folk, singer songwriter stuff....
FreaquedeMusique 6 months ago
@FreaquedeMusique singer/songwriter stuff. Ok.
Sincere? No. Folk? No.
Try Fleet Foxes. That is sincere folk.
But ok, you can have another opinion than I do.
I'm just saying John Mayer should've sticked with the blues
'cos I ain't digging this commercial pop shite.
RoyPortel 6 months ago
@RoyPortel and what about Bob Dylan?? and im more of a blues person myself, but im always open to as many styles as possible, didnt like this stuff at first, but im diggin john's interpretation of this stuff...
FreaquedeMusique 6 months ago
@FreaquedeMusique Interpretation? Bob Dylan? Are you saying this is a Bob Dylan cover?
I really like Fleet Foxes, Laura Marling, Agnes Obel and Sufjan Stevens. So I've got a wide variety of music that I listen to.
This to me comes across like standard stuff to get into women's pants.

@FreaquedeMusique In that case Metallica would be Bob Dylan too when they play their songs acoustic.
John Mayer isn't emptying his heart. He is emptying his bollocks.
