Nope its impossible, verizon , alltel and sprint all use CDMA technology which the iPhone does not use. ATT and tmobile use GSM which requires you to use a SIM card.

You have to sign a contract in the store, but they'll still probably be unlockable.

The only problem is because of the contract you're stuck with AT&T for a few years anyway... You're saving them money because they don't spend any money covering a Sim Card that's in a phone, and you're spending more money yourself to have a second card like T Mobile or Cincinnati Bell
