They are: Peter Stormare (stage right) and Vincent Patterson (stage left) both of whom appeared with her in the film. Hope that helps. :)

Nice video! Catherine seemed very protective, but to those who feared that she was controlling of Bjork, worry not. Aside from that incident where Bjork left the set for a few days in stress (which Deneuve noted in her published diary "Close Up & Personal" in disappointment), their r'ship was great. Bjork looked up to Deneuve, seeking her advice, and Deneuve provided the maternal grace & warmth. They even celebrated the new millennium together in Iceland.

I loved this film and greatly admire Von Trier's uniqueness.

However I feel so disappointed after hearing so much negativity about rows on the set and the poor relationship between Bjork and Von Trier(probably because they are such strong-willed and fiercely independant types)but on this occasion Bjork should have accepted that the director is ultimately the boss and shown more respect,but it does spoil the magic of the film when you hear about such turmoil behind the scenes. I can only imagine that you must be a hormonally charged teenager who likes Bjork, but one day you'll look back and laugh at such comments and direct your hatred towards genuine villains and tyrants or people who are racist etc. But please, don't waste too much negative energy on relatively harmless and talented film directors.

Tout de meme, je pense qu'elle fait ce qu'elle fait de bonnes intentions. Catherine se comporte assez protectrice avec Björk, et c'est vrai qu'elle a un peu l'air d'une fille perdue sur le tapis rouge. C'est peut-etre inutile, cette protection, mais je ne pense pas que Catherine la "force"; on dit qu'elles s'entendaient tres bien lors du tournage du film, alors il n'y a pas de raison.

I had read that Catherine and Bjork got along very well during the making of their film. Word has it that Bjork loved working with Catherine but didn't like the movie experience much--she felt overwhelmed. Bjork wanted Catherine by her side more than anything --- just what I read--so we can take that for what it is worth. Thanks for posting as these two are two of my faves and I love the movie.

Thank you for setting this straight, everything you say is true. Björk vanished once from the movie set for days (which is understandable when you know what Trier makes his actors go through).

Her waving at the end, looking at her hand like an UFO, is priceless.

I'll tell you one thing though---I absolutely love, love, love Dancer in The Dark...I find it to be so creative and wonderfully different. This is such a strange clip. Bjork looks really freaked out. Deneuve looks like she's trying to control her and stop her from doing anything embarrassing, and CDN's lips seem to have developed a life of their own. Good stuff.

Actually, if you listen to the commentary for Dancer in the Dark, the director relates that Deneuve was coaching them all. As they all stood in a line, Deneuve said through her teeth for everyone to bow. She has had more red carpet experiance I guess. I would personally trust Bjork to charm in this situation though, she does not need to be led. But with that face, you would want to protect her.
