@xXTigerArmyXx It depends or whether you're AWS or AWR (AWS usually has more rescue opportunities) and where you are stationed. If you're at an actual SAR station like Whidbey Island or Kew west then you certainly can make some rescues as a Navy Aviation Rescue Swimmer
to be honest i laughed when they said they had to learn to sew but i am about to graduate high school and join the coast guard. the coast guard in my heart and mind is my dream job. i want to serve my country and save lives and will become a rescue swimmer God Bless
there is no reason for anyone in the Coast Guard to go to SERE...there is no reason for them to "resist or escape"...another sad thing about the Coast Guard...I went to the movie theater the other day and I showed them my CAC Card and got a Military Discount...a Coast Guardsman showed his and they didn't give him one because the Coast Guard is a part of Homeland Security...not the Department of Defense.
@TheAlltimefavorite Because for one of the training exercises the instructor will make them struggle under the water by ripping their shirts, and simulating what a drowning person will do.
@lechodemeista i waited a year and a half and there was some cleaning but it makes you appreciate how much you don't want to scrub anymore haha. I graduated swimmer school 6 years ago and have loved every day since
@Mr17WWE call your local recruiter. When I joined I found the best way was to call the Recruiting office closest to you and if they didn't answer (which is pretty common in the USCG) you can then go on gocoastguard website and submit your info (this method worked for me) I got a hold of one of the recruiters and she said submit your info on the site and someone will call you back (took about 2 weeks for them to contact me). Good luck.
@brunedeezy for god sake. SOMEONE finally gets it. right on dude. thats it right there! why jump out of helos to kill ppl if you could jump out and save ppl. So others may live!
@MrPeanut28 what the fuck is up with you? all you do is mock these guys and go on abut the navy side of this job. Why dont you just comment on their videos???
@MrPeanut28 Coast Guard does not issue themselves in Hostile Acts. They are Maritime Rescue and Border Patrol pretty much. They save lives. And protect lives.
@MrPeanut28 Really are you a Navy AIRR? because I certainly respect Coast Guard ASTs . in fact, looking back I kinda think i should've been an Air Force PJ or a Coast Guard AST but I am impatient and I attempted to contact Air Force and Coast Guard Recruiters for months with no response. But Navy AIRR is still a sick job and we live our lives "so others may live"
Mad respect for what they do.. but man.. could they not find a better barber? Some pretty haggard haircuts in this video haha

Navy Rescue Swimmers go through the same thing if not worse and get to shoot 50 caliber machine guns out of the helos.
MrPeanut28 2 years ago
@MrPeanut28 its not about shooting 50 cals for the coast guard, its about saving lives.

@yodaluke12 Coast Guard ASTs do not shoot .50cals, and Navy AIRRs rarely do, if you wanna use a .50cal go Navy SWCC
