It does not fill the cores or frogs of the brick on the bottom of the last course laid full of mortar because there is no extra to squeeze into those voids. The brick is only sitting on top which leads to a vary poor bond. Also you can't adjust the height in small increments because you only have one gauge. You will also run into trouble with arches and corbeled courses for obvious reasons. Get a Bricklayer.
Masons will always reply negatively and try and dissuade people from the Bricky becasue it's putting them put of a job.
I think the Bricky is amazing for basic walls by the DIY'er like garden walls to give a professional finnish, but not a house or a conservatory leave that to the masons.
I saw this stupid thing a couple years ago... and it's still gay!! It's a waste of time and not to mention, it seems it would take double the time. It's just for "do it yourselfer's" not us bricklayers and journeyman masons!
@TheOriginalMalzy To me it seems dangerous encouraging untrained unskilled people to build walls that are potentially unstable and dangerous. Who approves the buildings? What if it falls on someone or a child. I don't understand how this is legal.
@ojideagu So I responded to your comment 5 months ago... Yeah, you were the guy that said that this should be illegal... Lol, as if any DIY guy is going to build anything more than 9 feet high with this tool, if someone builds something with this that is so dangerous that it kills somebody then that is down to their own stupidity. According to your logic all sorts of shit should be illegal. Get it?. Tools are not dangerous, people can be.
@Cytacon The advert actively advocates amateurs building dangerous things. Nobody who needs a bricky would be qualified to build them. It is culpable for potential accidents.
@ojideagu What is a dangerous thing according to you?. A fucking BBQ pit or a backyard toolshed??. That is the most an amateur is going to build with this.. If people build something stupid and dangerous then THEY are culpable. Just like if someone bought a kitchen knife and stabbed someone else to death, the manufactures of the kitchen knife aren't culpable, the person who stabbed someone else to death is.
@1994bobcat Anyone who needs a bricky obviously isn't skilled enough to be build it in the first place, and is causing a potential hazard. All the things advertised in the videos such as shed's, conservatories or high walls are therefore moronic.
@ojideagu i get what your saying. but you cant build any thing with out it getting inspected. therefore anything hazardst would not pass and need to be takein down at the owners expence. i thought it was kinda cool and im in the trade.
@1994bobcat Sure, but in that case the advert should not propagate irresponsible goals that are potentially dangerous to people actually building it. What if it collapses while in the process of being built before inspection?
@ojideagu well if you run up 12 corses in one day a 3 year old can tell you thats not safe i dont know to many people that would lay all the block on there house. and if your so cheap that you buy this thing beacuse you want to build your house and have no clue what your doing shame on you.
i would say this is a home owner tool, that would take way too much time to use on the job site, and if your not good enough with a trowel to gauge your mud properly u shouldnt be a mason...
it's a good idea, but you get a big recess on the mortar which means you have a lot of pointing to do afterwards if that isnt the kind of joint you want
@eastmids10 I was thinking the same thing. It is fine for California joints but here in NY the water will sit in the joints and then freeze up in the winter and start popping brick out.

You may remember an email i sent to you a few weeks ago about the grills for the BBQ like the one used in your video, well i finally found one and went to work on my first ever brick laying experience with aid of the bricky. I couldn't wait to start doin things around the house. Ive attached a few pictures of the BBQ and i must say how quickly and easy i got to grips with using the bricky tool package its excellent and i feel very proud of my first attempt.
the trick is in the trowel !

I would pay money to see a DIY boy build that octagon sun room/extension. I reckon that would be really really funny.
