  • But something I can study for and get to know more.

  • ...Baroque and Renaissance period songs? Something I've grown bored with through the emergence of Classical and romantic Eras.

  • Magnificent.

  • I just love the jacket Ms Bish!

  • Fabulous Bish as usual!

  • Diane is playing her own transcription that I don't believe was published. She talked about writing the transcription at the concert. I was fortunate to be at Coral Ridge when she played this in concert. The pedal credenza was off the charts...

  • One of the most underrated American 20th Century composers was the Italian American Pietro Yon. In his lifetime, there where complete concerts of his works all over New York, popular with audiences and performers alike. He was at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC and before that at St. Francis Xavier on 14th St(When they had an organ/gave a damn) It's a shame most everyone doesn't make it past 'Gesu Bambino'.

  • @cnmmnc8852 Another side note about this is that the complete Concerto Gregoriano was played with orchestra for the dedication of the Kilgen & Sons organ at St Patrick's Cathedral, New York City with the composer Pietro Alessandro Yon, Music Director & Organist playing the concert. I think he also played it for the Carnegie Hall organ dedication as well.

Yon used to have a sign in his studios that said

"If you have nothing to do, don't do it here."

  • Please upload this video again, but with 10dB lower sound level. It is now very distorted.

  • OMG!!! Unbelievable, Fantastic!!! Thankyou for sharing your gift with us!

  • The Art of Organ Play at it's very best! Never seen an organist on this level. MASTERPIECE! Congratulation Mme. Bish! Greetings from Switzerland.

  • I was very fortunate to hear Ms. Bish in concert at Rockefeller Chapel in Chicago where she performed this very piece. That fiery pedal solo toward the end is amazing to hear, let alone see in person. Naturally, I sat so that I would have a good view of the pedal board. :D She's a very gracious person, as I found out when I met her following the concert.

  • The windows were rattling in the house! As my dear mom used to say, she made the organ talk!

Di is a concert performer, and is very good at what she does.

  • I have never heard such a long pedal solo with a 32' Bombarde.

    Amazing!

  • I love her palm tree on her jacket! I have been to Coral Ridge Presby years before Dr. Kennedy died. The sanctuary is smaller than it looks on tv.

  • Truly the most magnificent instrument on the planet with the most gifted artist as its master. This is my new favorite piece of all time.

  • Brava Diane!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE this piece almost as much as I love your playing! I sincerely hope to attend one of your concerts and have the honor to meet you someday.

  • Hermosa interpretación, saludos desde México.

  • What a wonderful talent! She makes it look so easy.

  • Her performance of this piece puts her into an orbit of her own. Absolute virtuosity!

  • How Impressive!

  • Does anyone know where you can get the sheet music for this?

  • This is just recently become one of my favorite organ peices... Diane does a fantasic job in playing this peice

  • I was at the dedication of the organ concert back in the seventies. She began with a demonstration of the sonic range of the organ. She played the highest note first, which was only 1-1/2" long. You couldn't quite hear it, only sense it, like the high pitch sound a telly gives off when it is on with volume on zero. She then demonstrated the lowest note, which came from a pipe 20' high. All you could hear was a faint rush of air moving through it, but, then the whole building started to shake!!

  • Woah! Diane was sure bustin' a move on those pedals!

  • verry good played i like it from who is this peace and what are the titels etc. ?

    i mice a aplaus

  • What is so great about this is the rhythmic impulse that, once started, never ceases. Despite the many sections with different volume, registration, tempi and mood, she makes the finale into a coherent whole - something that is rarely done these days. Bravo

  • i would greatly appreciate the sheet music!

  • I too would enjoy the sheet music (?) to this piece if you have it....

    Patrick

  • Bravo Madame, Superbe prestation;

    Respectueusement.......

  • Spectacular!! 5/5 and going on my favs!!

  • it's amazing.

she's sooooo into what she's doing.

and she truly appreciates what she's playing and she plays it musically rather than a piece of music someone scratched together.

this song is so passionate as is the player.

    way to go! =]

  • Bravo encore!

  • True Virtuosity.

  • Anybody know where I can find sheet music or even a book with this piece? I can't find it anywhere! I would love this same version (Diane Bish's own arrangement no doubt), but I'd be happy with any! Thanks!

  • I wanted a copy as well. The only way I could get it is through interlibrary loan from the University of Wisconsin Madison. There are several other large universities that have the score as well. As for the original score being the same as the one performed in the video, I am unsure. I will get the piece this week sometime and then I'll find out.:)

  • i have the concerto finale that diane plays on youtube if you would like it

  • wow id love it if possible!

  • Yes, please

  • A lot of times this work is performed with two organists at two organs. One playing the "orchestral" part and one playing the "solo organ" part. Quite a thrilling work. My mother and I performed it a few years ago on the two organs of First Presbyterian in Glens Falls, NY. Ahhh...Memories =)

  • yes, she did this piece on a special show for 2 organs with organist simon preston. it was a 2 part show. very good. they also did bach's Toccata & Fugue in d minor together

diane was on her 117 rank Ruffatti pipe organ in Florida (which she designed) and set up right next to her was a rodgers 4 manual electronic organ which sounded just like a real pipe organ

  • I have both shows on VHS cassette that I ordered sometime ago... I still love listening to that two person organ recital now and again. It was the bomb. :-)

  • She used to be on the TBN network years ago, the same one that Jim and TamyFaye Baker hijacked.

  • she is still on TBN Tuesdays morning around 5am almost every week

she is on EWTN every Sunday @ 2:30 and the same show replays the following week early Saturday morning like 4am

if you have the cable channel WFME, they play her show every 3 hours 24/7 (same show all day 2:30am 5:30am 8:30am 11:30am 2:30pm 5:30pm *6:30pm is a different show mon-fri only* 8:30pm and 11:30pm

Sundays are the same without the 6:30pm show

on Saturdays, WFME plays 2 shows back to back every 3 hours

  • The virtuosic artistry of Diane Bish...from the manuals to the pedal...especially the pedal glissando passages near the end of the piece..spectacular!!!

  • i just watched this again and damn that pedal solo part was outrageous! bravo

  • wow. i dont like the particular song but its one that takes some pretty high talent to perform obviously.

  • Boy it must be fun playing a pipe organ like that ! it's nice seeing her show on here since I don't get her on vision tv anymore ..

  • The organ that is shown at the very beginning with the credits is actually the Rodgers Pipe Organ at Second Baptist Church, Houston, Texas.

  • I do confirm! ;-)

  • haha i love this song (though i hate the show) i remember watching it with my best friend in college and i always called this the pirate song! so it was awesome to see the organ in pirates of the caribbean 2! pirate song! pirate song!!!

  • is this the new organ console? I remember watching this show when I was 7! I cant find her show anymore. Glad to see she's still around, I got to meet her years ago at a concert she gave in Plainville CT.

  • That is a newer console. I think it replaced the original sometime in the early 90's to give the organ more modern technologies and midi compatibility. In 2000 that midi compatibility was put to use when about 50 or so digital voices were added to enhance the organ's string section.
