That Lelouch drives the cart isn't a very good argument, but the thing that has no other explanation than Lelouch being alive is the fact that Nunnaly saw into Lelouche's subconsious by touching him. This can happen when someone touches an immortal, just like when Lelouche touched C.C. There is no other plausible explanation for Nunally seeing Lelouche's memories. So he is alive.
