Gosh... This is what I miss about the 90s. Not just the charismatic movies they made just for the pleasure, but also the simplicity of every theatrical trailer. Back then, there was no hidden agenda, no ambiguous plots or hiding what the movie was REALLY about. It was simple and direct, and I think that's what pulled people in. Nowadays... you see a trailer, not certain what the hell the movie's about, watch the movie and end up terribly disappointed.

I take it you never saw the interviews with the actors back when this movie first came out like I did. There was much talk about how this will be a joyful entertaining film for children. Thus, it was never meant to be viewed as a joke, there was in fact, high hopes from the director that this film would do well.
