My ping is at 193MS flat sometimes it actually spikes to 300. the download is 25KB/s and upload is .02 mbps. I have the 4g plan. Like you're update states, I didnt read the fine print about streaming and gaming. I lag ALL THE TIME when I game. Ill be swtiching to Timewarner soon. When the contract expires -_-
UPDATE --- I've called Clear to check my bandwidth usage. The rep told me I use an average of 62,000mb (60 gb) per month. So to illustrate 60gigs a month, that's an average of two movies a day. I asked the rep what DATA cap should I stay under not to be throttled, they said "We do not know, the tower is automatically manages speed." 2mbps is NOT 4G speed. Clear wire is a shady company. I feel sorry for those techs. Buyer Beware.

I got the Clear 4G hotspot because I wanted a low monthly payment and "4G" speed. I didn't read the fine print that says for Clear wire is for "occasional non-continuous video streaming, gaming" This Clear internet service is designed for user who just check email and surf web. Not people who stream news or movies like myself. Plan to switch to FIOS soon.
I've used the 4G+ Hotspot when I was in San Antonio and coverage was sketchy. I didn't get coverage inside the building I was in. However when I came downstairs and sat anywhere away from the building, I got all 5 bars and pretty fast connection speed.
Now I'm home, but my month-to-month service still works. I have Comcast cable and this as my mobile connection of choice to feed my iPad/iPhone and Laptop. This was much more cost effective than a 3G plan from my cell carrier.
The reason I got clear was because the cable company in our area(Comcast) was horrible and we had had Verizon 3g before that which was okay but we went over the 5gigs all the time and had $200 bills from it. We have had them for about a year in october and they seem to slow our speeds a few days after the renew of the billing cycle, its really annoying being promised unlimited bandwidth but getting slowed.
