  • This is fifthgear, you cock licker

  • My Freelander just ticked over 300,000km. Never had a breakdown, never had a mechanical failure, never found any country I couldn't traverse in it. Only issue is a leak at the back window during monsoons.

People who say Freelanders are unreliable either a) brought a petrol model (which have the same head gasket problem with the same remedy as a Lotus Elise, because it's the same engine) or b) drive like an idiot.

If you want to go fast, buy a WRX, if you want to go anywhere, buy a Freelander.

  • @feckdrinkgirls - i own one myself also, and yes mines a diesel aswell the bmw td4 under the bonnet, the petrol versions are fitted with the rover k series petrol engines which are the worst engines ever built for head gasket reliabilityl i never heard anyone have a problem with the diesel ones and diesel also being economical, i get 40mpg out of mine and its the cheapest vehicle on fuel i have ever owned, looking forward to using it in the snow this winter if it snows again 3rd yr in a row

  • My 2001 freelander got stolen!!! It was like winning the lottery!!! lol

  • @gp1585 ROFL XD :DD

  • get a real land rover

  • Comment removed

  • I own a Freelander 2.0 td4...They say that it is the best engine for this car...This is the most unreliable car i have ever owned...BUT I DONT CARE!

It is the best looking car ever made...It is gust a mans car...it looks so manly...it ruggid inside and the whole image of it is great...If you wont a reliable car buy a booring Toyota or a Nissan but this is a real mans car...I never seen a woman driving it...

  • @ManuelFerara hi , what year is yours ?

  • @MrLuke6593 The end of 2002...And i changed my opinion about it...I hate it...I hate every single part of it...Al British cars are pieces of shit...I will never ever own a British car...

  • @ManuelFerara well to be fair it was not owned by a british company at the time i mean look at the true british cars they are fine ( early land rovers ) jag's tvr , aston martin , jensen , e.t.c all fine examples its just when they mess around with it like the freelander they are terrible

  • @MrLuke6593 No dude they are all unreliable...What is the point of having a jag when it does not work...And it costs a fortune to repair...Aston martin is overrated if you ask me...Yes they are beautifull, but not that much really...Some Mercedes and Audi cars are more beautifull and are better built...But you British people will never accept the fact that you cant produce a good car...

  • @ManuelFerara fuck off you know nothing

  • @MrLuke6593 And TVR-s are crap...Pure crap, they are not even beautiful..They only have a lot of horse power...But so does a Dodge Viper...And it is a lot cheaper...But it is also a crappy car...

  • @ManuelFerara a viper if like 5 times the price also tvr's are goos cars and make a lovely sound but they are just very unreliable , but jaguar and aston are fine .. :)

  • i like my 2008 freelander, because it looks much nicer than this and according to reviews, is much more reliable :D

  • @Freddiewgbs how do they know this if the car has only been out for a couple of years ?

  • whats the song that starts at 3:57 ?

  • Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up

    I think thats it.

  • the 2 tone steering wheel was the best part of this vehicle. That is if yours was equipped as such.

  • i say the defender is better thsn a range rover, 4 me, its defender, discovery, range rover, lr2

  • Just never ever buy the 1.8 petrol and you'll be fine. Putting a small car engine (mgf) into something this big is a recipe for disaster. Diesel is best.

  • Best 4WD in the world in a Toyota Land Cruiser/ Hilux

  • Will the US ever get the Freelander back?

  • What is the model pictured at 0:29? The square body offroad.

  • IS the Land Rover Defender

  • defender 90 i think

  • @zuksammy Defender 90

  • eeze up geezers i got a fleelander 1.8 k-series its a lil beast in the snow wot a laugh im tellin ya it has yea a couple of probs wiv not reckognizing the key but with patience in the end itll start d:-) anyhowz problems with headgaskets is down to the engine wich is over 10 years old :-O and it started life as 1.4 which is the reason why it eats headgaskets :-( overall though its a descent car

  • george

Its well know for going through headgaskets.

The ECU unit will also totally pack up leaving you stranded... next to go will be the viscous coupling unit disabling the four wheel drive...

Google freelander problems. theres a lot to read..

  • well my freelander has 140 000 miles head gasket hasnt gone yet, still 4 wheel drive and ecu fine so.....

i think you should take a look at maintainng freelander properly !!

  • The most unreliable car I had ever owned.

From head gaskets to adodgy ECu and VCUs this car is a heap of junk...

Google this car if you don't believe me...

  • is true, I also have and I are a "crap" and the Notre pieces like appearance is beautiful

  • fuck off u probably cant drive the whole point is land rovers are shit but they r the best 4x4 on the road and off road

  • How ignorant.

    These cars are absolute rubbish.

The best 4x4 you gotta be joking. The design features are very poor.

Rover 1.8 K series. prone to herad gasket failure, VCU failure and my worst problem with them. The ECU failure meaning it wont regocnise the key.

The diesel fuel pump is a problem also.. It really is a shocking design..

    Just google freelander problems.

  • m8 i said the freelander is shit but read my other comments on that page before u reply

  • lmao u think land rovers are shit! lol! interior and stuff is shit becuase land rover are seroius off roaders. and when i had mine it was never a problem wat so eva apart from it drank 2 much fuel lol

  • rogantor

I don't think I know...I got to know most of the recovery guys after a while.

maybe you were lucky maybe I was unlucky, but Landrover always come out near bottom on reliability..

  • o right. ive never seen them comeout near bottom then again every car manufacturer has there bad and good points. got a renault sceinic now and only thung thats gone wrong with that is pass window slipping out of its runners. very economical.only reason i got rid of freelander was it drank way 2 much fuel. wat u driving nowadays?

  • @roganator92

my neighbour used to work for Ford management . So every 3 months he gets a new car on lease then can buy one every couple of yrs at a huge discount.. I know its a bit odd.

He had Kuga so I asked him what Ford would charge him..Well the upshot was that I could have it 3 months old for £11K..How could I resist. its a brilliant car.

  • seems a good deal. wat ford?

  • @roganator92

    Yes its a Ford Kuga...

I had to take the Freelander back in the end to the dealer. Its last journey was taking rubbish to the tip.. It would not start and it was the ECU not recognising the key again...

The Freelanders look nice but it was an ordeal. 3 brekdowns in a month..!!!

  • o right. not good then. anyways i never had problems with em and never heard of any other till u said the problems uve had with it. and th i think u gota admit they are amazing machines off road!!! i went 70mph in a range sport at milton keynes centre and in a discovery 2 around 3 or 4 years ago at a land rover show. was serious off roading and really good!

  • @roganator92

Yeah the Discovery is a whole different and much more robust machine. The angles they can climb are ridiculous.

Down the road from where I live they make the Bowler Wildcat.

Now that is a serious piece of off road kit. Plenty of clips on Youtube.

just google Freelander problems and you will get the picture.

  • wat age was your freelander? mine was a 2001 so it was a freelander 1. 2.5 v6

  • and every car has there own problems. just obviously some worse than others.

  • when i bought it it was 18months old, was £12500 and had done 18,000 miles. when i got rid of it may last year it had 41,000 on the clock. only managed 2 get £2000 for it but thats coz it was big engine and noone wants big 4x4s now coz tax and shit. done me good anyway. btw i hope u know im just having a gneral chat with u not arguing lol

  • We have a 2004 Td4 , had it nearly 3 years now without any problems, been a great car and we have done serious offroading with it as well, plenty of bad examples out there for sure, but not ALL of them are proving bad.

  • @roganator92 i had a scenic, and it didn't do as well as yours! ecu faults, passenger window fell out and smashed on the road, electronic hand brake failed, power steering failed. I have a vaux. meriva at the moment and haven't had a thing go wrong! i bet a lot of people would say different tho! all depends on personal experience I suppose!

  • @brokenbriton well basisally you should learn how to maintain and and run it properly i think 140 000 miles 1 new head gasket says alot

  • @georgekrezz

And I think you have been lucky..

Which model did you have ???

I only had mine for four months . It was recovered to the garage three times and then a full refund was made. The car was then sold on and broke down again and the lady who bought it again had a refund..

The design is awful and a long way behind machines such as the RAV.

  • @brokenbriton You must have had the petrol version.

  • @brokenbriton what one did you have ?

  • Awesome vid i have one with 146xx v6 and had no probs just got a 3in lift bigger tires and it does great in the mud!!!!
