So much expression and sensitiveness, a wonderful relief to listen to this Valse Triste, congratulations to the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie and Paavo Järvi.
I think my favorite part of this performance is when the orchestra is finished playing the piece and Järvi looks like he's going to cry, and holds back the audience's applause for a good 13 seconds. I don't know how they possibly could have clapped before then. The man has such control over the room. Then he says 'I'm proud' to the concertmaster once the audience starts applauding. Touching.

Just heard Paavo lead the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in his last performance as their Music Director. Mahler 5 and then the encore was Sibelius' Valse Triste. BEAUTIFUL!!! Paavo we were blessed to have you for ten years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the music. You will be missed!!
This is such a beautiful music! People must understand something: If you don't understand something or you dislike something, that doesn't mean it is a bad thing!!!
I love this kind of music! Very relaxing indeed. I haven't even heard of Jean Sibilius but now I really know what type of music he delivers. This is the type of music you can listen to in order to find some harmony in life.

The did this encore on their recent US tour. Paavo Jarvi and this orchestra communicate so well with each other. I have never seen a conductor/orchestra relationship that is so close.
Masterfully done, the conductor reminds me of Putin. His expressions are wonderful. Adds so much to the performance! The Sibelius piece is hauntingly beautiful. Captures the essence of the Kaleva and the Finnish wilderness of an earlier era.
