I have friends who own European & Japanese luxury brands. They are wealthy people who buy new luxury vehicles because they want to & have the means to do so. They are not the ones bashing other cars like the Genesis on youtube. Hmm....why do I have this very strong suspicion that those of you bashing are not in the league of my wealthy colleagues. If you could afford a brand new $50K BMW, you would be enjoying the car not bashing other cars on YouTube. Wannabe losers perhaps?
All cars cater to a certain demographic. I like the Genesis because it caters to someone who doesn't care to brandish a badge or look good to impress others. It appeals to me who wants a nice looking car that is also reliable and performs well with many luxury features. I like the fact that I didn't spend a lot of money to get this. I would rather spend my money on something else worthwhile like my kids. But if you like brand-prestige & high dollar cars, more power to you. I won't criticize
Why don't you stop being negative and go troll sites about cars that you LIKE. Then you can just spend your waking hours saying nice things instead of spending it saying bad things. Life is too short. Do something positive for a change. Help someone less fortunate. Use that exhuberant energy and channel it toward something productive instead of being malicious. Unless you all are prepubescent boys...then it's just a matter of growing up!
To the bozos who have nothing better to do than bask this car:
Variety is the spice of life. The fact that we have different makers from different countries with different styles of cars is a good thing. It fosters competition and helps all manufactures to raise the bar by increasing quality and value while competing to keep costs down. Your bashing is a testament against free-market. If you don't like this car, then don't buy it. People like me will still buy it regardless of what you say.
car has a lot of get up and flat out fun to drive. i'll gladly pay 30g's for a sports sedan gettin 18miles city and 27 high way. you can't beat that plus it looks good as hell. did i forget to mention that it has a lot get up in it? why pay 80g or 113g for a name and gadgets when u get the same thing for 30. sounds smart.. especially when it cost of ur soul for the maintenance of ur merc and benz.. hyundai has definitely stepped up
@biyorkman Byorkman..sorry, I meant to call you by your real name, Bigotman. Don't you have anything better to do or say than to troll the Hyundai sites and bash them? It got old a long time ago. Look in the mirror and reprioritize your life. Do something constructive like community service at a food bank or a serve at a homeless shelter or just go help a little old lady walk across the street instead of sitting in your room trying to come up with hateful and ignorant words to post.
@biyorkman I guess that makes me the exception because I'm not in the low income group. Actually....are you suggesting that people in the low income bracket can afford a $30,000 car? Wow, your definition of low income is surely different from mine...actually, different from everyone elses including Webster's dictionary.
Hehehee...so many troglodytes who dismiss the car instantly because it is called "Hyundai". If it switched it's name with a Benz or BMW, they would still say the exact same thing about it.
To these people, please keep being retarded and paying twice the money just for the labels (whether it's cars, clothes, whatever) so others like Hyundai have an incentive to put out even better products for an even cheaper price.
I've been a GM fan for a while(pre 2000's mostly), but their brand new cars disappoint me. Only thing worth buying from them now are their trucks, the Camero and the Corvette. The rest of their products are just cheap looking overpriced trash. If I wanted a brand new car, I would probably get a Genesis because it is V8 and rear wheel drive, which GM mostly abandoned in their 4 door cars. The Cadillac CTS is nice, but this Hyundai is a better buy. It has a bigger engine, and more interior space.
The brand name makes all the different. If u take the Hyundai name off n put Lexus or BMW on it the price will double. I still buy it eventhough even though it a Hyundai.
this car is beautiful. Looks like a benz in the front, and a beamer in the back...also seems like it rides like a dream. I hope to make this my next purchase
@2m0rrownevapromised wow just buy a real benz or bmw. fron is benz back is 525 bmw.and you guys credits this?korean are cheaters they imitate ,similar to chinese mentality
@WhiteMoonLights I realize its what they did lol...My funds is not there to be able to mess with a benz or a bmw,so a car that looks exactly like 2 of the nicest cars...mixed together, and just happens to be in my range..I would definately fuck with it lol
It's a Hyundai. Hyundai is such crap!!! Why would anyone buy this when they could own a BMW?? Or a Mercedes?? People are so stupid!! And Hyundai doesnt even put their own logo up, that should tell you theyre not proud of their name.....
@Corvette90100 hyundai isn't that bad anymore and if you consider how much money you save compared to a bmw or merc, its good value. At the end of the day its just personal preference.
it doesnt have the same history, or soul as a euro car or a lexus but it certainly has amazing build quality, and engineering, and theyve definantley improved on there cars. Id say in a few years the name Hyundai will really change from what it was. Id recommend the car for people who want a reliable car, value for money, but not really for car enthusiasts
I've owned the Genesis for 1 month now. I've ridden in BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, Infinitis, Acuras, VWs, and Volvos. Admittedly the European cars have a stiffer and more sportym performance feel so if you're looking for this, the Genesis is not for you. But for you critics who think the Genesis is not as smooth as Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura are delusional. The smoothness of ride and quietness of cabin are on par with the Japanese competitors. I Dare you to test yourself with a blindfolded ride.
For those who you critics who have never driven a Genesis before, keep your empty and meaningless words to yourself. These same people are probably the ones who go around flea markets rummaging for brand name clothes and shoes just to brandish their designer logos. This forum is meant to be constructive and informative.
In Canada Hyundai Genesis cost as much as a Lincoln MkZ except that the Lincoln is proven luxury brand so it is absolutely ridiculous to pay the same price for an imitation? Where Hyundai Genesis may beat the Lincoln is reliability, but I guess American cars are making some huge improvement here. Still I would give a thumps up to Hyundai just for making it hard for other luxury brand who used to take it for granted and charges us more for each single feature. Competition is always good.
At the end of the day, this vehicle hasn't swayed the typical buyers of comparable BMW, lexus, Merc, or Infiniti models. Nearly everything on this car you can get in the cheaper Maxima...Hyundai marketed it as a "luxury" car and ripped off luxury styling in hopes that the jacked up price would be justified. Besides, hyundai/kia have tried overtaking the luxury/sport market before...remember the tiburon? Remember the Amanti? None overtook their targeted market even thought they claimed they would
The time has come for Free energy to be revealed ,But the Big corporations spend millions to ensure that information does not spread to the masses,Get the blueprints for a free energy motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Free yourself!
It doesn't have the technology and cheapness merely is a car of the gain that there is not an originality in the design either. It is a reality of Hyundai
No Hyundai has succeeded. I do not envy it. The strategy is only in sales of Hyundai of this car by a low price. The transmission of this car is made in Germany. 3.8l is made in Japan. In a word, Hyundai doesn't have the technology that makes an automatic transmission by itself. I am sure not to envy the car that it has the ability only in cheap sales. It is not limited to this car that I want to denounce it and Hyundai is a thing to steal the others' designs.
you know what would be tits? that 4.6L in the coupe. Then I would consider buying my first import. If they don't do it, in two years I'ma finance a brand new Camaro. screw imports, keep your money in the US. our economy right now is exactly what happened when you outsource everything
Only two brands in the midsize class rec'd 5 stars in the new government crash safety tests. The BMW 5 series and the Hyundai Sonata. Toyota screamed "no fair" for changing the rules in the middle of the game but why were BMW and Hyundai on top of their game? Looks like Toyota was caught with their pants down again. Also, Mercedes came in 25th , BMW 26th and Audi 27h for reliabiltiy this year. Only Chrysler was worse.
"Image", Is it really worth the unreliabilty and massive depreciation?
walk into a store and see 2 shirts, both identical, one is name branded the other is not, the non branded one comes with better quality material and a pocket along with spare buttons and costs only 30 dollars, the brand name shirt comes with nothing but its brand printed across the shirt and it costs 60 dollars, soo, which one would you chose? most people would just take the brand name over the other, appearance is everything
I'd take a used BMW, Audi, MB or Lexus over this Genesis. The Genesis is an honest attempt at making a luxury car but quality and a good warranty won't win over anybody, thats not what really catches attention of buyers. Unique styling and stellar performance on all aspects will win them over and German cars still have a handling advantage over the Genesis and Lexus and MB have a ride and quietness advantage over the Genesis.
Anyways the Genesis hasn't proved it's longterm reliability yet.
I rented a 3.8 Genesis in Maui this past summer and Hyundai made a believer out of me and my wife. Our plans are to buy one next year. Yes, there are those that may turn their nose up at anyone driving a hyundai but i just chuckle inside at their lack of realization that frugality is part of being an intelligent consumer. When an $80,000 Mercedes depreciates by $50,000 in 3 years doesn't that make it a bad investment.? ... I ask.. how smart are the people who buy these cars.. really?

@67mustangreg@67mustangreg OH YOUR NAME IS MUSTANG!!! OH LETS COMPARE A SPIRRA EX (HAS A HYUNDAI ENGINE) CAN PUT 500 HP AND 0-60 IN 3.5 SEC. A HAND MADE SUPER CAR!! LOL Mustang!!! hahahahaha. A "Legend" but when compared to super cars still a "shitty Legend".
This car is almost as good as its competitors, but not quite...it still doesn't offer a long list of luxury features that BMW/Merc offer (which is why those two cost more...you get what you pay for!) and its only closest rival is the very outdated GS which is due for an update soon. Thats like a 25yo claiming victory in a boxing match over a 60yo grandma...Besides, the GS was never a ground breaking car (most lexus cars aren't) to begin with. This is just the Kia Amanti all over again...
@MT323able btw, just because a company makes a lot of something, doesn't mean its good. By that logic, Craft Mac n cheese must be the best mac money can buy because they sell a lot of it for cheap! At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. Hyundai has improved, but they have not caught up to anything but the far outdated GS which is getting redesigned in a year or two...not much of an accomplishment. Hyundai will never be taken seriously by the majority of those who can afford better.
@sacdude20 "Hyundai will never be taken seriously by the majority of those who can afford better." Remember don't hate.... :) U people have to stop being in denial.
@MT323able Furthermore, it is trying to compare to the ranks of the LS, 7 series and S class, so comparing it to a sports sedan isn't really compareable, even though the 5 series and e class still offer things the equus doesn't.
Even then, it will just be another stab in the dark at its competitors and the only thing it comes close to is the way overpriced LS because the LS is currently the stepchild of the large luxury sedan world...the equus will now take that place, bumping up the LS
@sacdude20 "even though the 5 series and e class still offer things the equus doesn't." But its amazing how a Hyundai can beat the crap out of a BMW....again crappy 5 series when compared to the Equus.
Genesis is an impressive car. If you want spacious combined with luxury and manueverability, this is the car you should defintely go for. I've watched many reviews on this particular car and it compelled me. However, if you want razorsharp handling and quicker acceleration, this car isn't probably the best choice. You are better off buying BMW, Audi, or Mercedes if you are looking for solid performance.
I saw this car net to a Benz E-class today when I was driving to work, the Hyundai looked like a BMW and the Benz looked like a honda. God job Hyundia
I know this may be wrong, but I just cannot accept to pay over 40000$ for a Hyundai . I’m glad that the Asian cars are giving a hard time to American and Germans automobiles because its all benefits consumer value. Right now for me luxury means Lincoln (but lucks reliability) ,BMW, Mercedes, Audi (Solid rock ,but little bit expansive but last longer) . I have a Lincoln myself luxury is great ,performance great ,but for sure you will have at least 1 issue a year that's the proms from lincoln.
At first, I thought there were alot of Hyundai haters but then I realized that same people are commenting on every video. Good job. I wish I was as cool as your guys (not).
@woody3721 Korean car quality a little better than a Chinese car??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
HYUNDAI is the manufacturer of shamelessness in all over the world. Because the person's design is shamelessly stolen, it gets conceited in it, and it does business.
If the design of Mercedes S class is stolen, do you think that its own car sells?Another doesn't have such a shameless manufacturer.
Jealousy?I do not envy the manufacturer with low level. The evaluation to the manufacturer with low level is contempt.
The design of Mercedes S class is shamelessly stolen, and the evaluation to the manufacturer that does business in a dignified manner by the design has only contempt.
Look at all these preppy brand-loving douchebags hate on the Genesis! Aww... I'm sorry you paid thousands of dollars more just to have a big L or the Benz logo on your car! Oh yeah, did you receive the news that the Genesis is #2 on the Consumer Reports rankings? Beats all German and Japanese cars except Lexus LS (which is $50K more)... so suck on it, dipshits.
@clunkerboy1 What are you talking about? There is a Hyundai logo on the Genesis at the back of the car. Please look closely before you try to make any arguments
Don't buy this car. Hyundai is making a car called equus that is super luxurious. It had reclining back seat and massage and high quality wood and leather.
@biyorkman <<< obsessed and jealous of hyundai success . your on every hyundai channel repeating yourself like an idiot. If hyundai stole then why did mercedes want to partner with hyundai to build 4 cylinder engines u fool. sonata hybrid uses lythium polymer batteries no other hybrid has that . sonata is coming with a turbo that has more horsepower then any V6 in its class along with best mpg ..man kill yourself for being a troll
AUTO CENTRAL – JULY 22, 2010: Leading German motoring magazine AutoBild, has awarded Hyundai Motor Company the honor of first-place in its annual AutoBild Quality Report for 2010.
Hyundai edged out local manufacturers BMW and Audi and eclipsed its rival Toyota to take the prestigious award based on a comprehensive analysis of reliability, long-term quality and customer satisfaction. BMW is the least reliable luxury car expect to pay for another car in repairs with bmw
@pyeon Because even hyundai knows that nobody takes hyundai seriously as a luxury car. They've done everything they can to rip off actual luxury cars to make it almost like a real luxury car...a lot like they did did with the amanti (kia) a few years back. You can put lipstick on a pig, but its still a pig.
@sacdude20 whats with all this hate coming off of you? people know hyundai isn't top notch, but they tried, and the genesis is a beautiful car. obviously, its not a bmw or a benz, but hyundai probably worked harder then bmw and benz combined to bring this out. please stop trying to make this car look like shit, if you don't like it, great, but hyundai tried, thats all that matters.
@supatoker420 Good point. I don't think sacdude20 even test drove Genesis 4.6 in his life. Genesis is actually very nice car for the money. If you are so rich and spending extra 20-30K on BMW is nothing to you, you should definitely buy BMW 5 series. But, if you are one of thoese "generic" brand shoppers at grocery stores and always looking for ways to save money, then you should check out Genesis before going over to BMW, Lexus or MB dealers.
@supatoker420 Who said I was hating anyone? I was simply pointing out the facts (you may want to read previous comments) to people who keep telling lies about this car in an attempt to make it look better. I was saying how it cracks me up that many of the owners (or wannabe owners) say things like "it has more safety and luxury features than a 550 or an E550" or my fav lie, "it outperforms evey car in its class." In reality, the hundai trails far behind everyone in performance and features
@sacdude20 "In reality, the hundai trails far behind everyone in performance and features" Who's everyone? What's "far behind"? What "performance" and "features"? You're throwing these claims left and right, but can you be a bit more specific? Why are you so hung up with Hyundai Genesis? Did your neighbor buy a Genesis 4.6 sedan and bragged and lied about the car? I'm not so sure why you're taking it so personally? I doesn't sound like you'll ever buy a Hyundai car, anyway. So, what gives?
@Johncarson9112 In performance and luxury features, the infiniti M56, the BMW 550i, and the Merc E550 all offer far more luxury and safety features while outrunning and out performing the genesis. The only performance the genesis comes close to is the Lexus GS, but its also due for an model update. And the genesis isn't just missing a few features....more like a dozen or more major features/services offered by every other competitor. Plus, the genesis is lackluster...you get what you pay for.
@sacdude20 So, what are those safety features that are in M56, 550i and E550 but not in Genesis? Can you name them? Did you hear about Genesis and E550 having the top safety ratings. You didn't hear any of that, did you?
@Johncarson9112 As for exact missing features, the 550i has knee airbags, automatic emergency support when airbag deployment is detected, night vision, blind spot detection, run flat tires etc, adaptive break lights, crash sensors that cut off the alternator, fuel pump, and starter from the battery while unlocking doors/opening windows for ventilation etc...Merc has a few other things like the drowsiness sensor and the M56 has many of the same features as the 550. Hyundai has none of these.
@sacdude20 Knee airbags? That's a good one. I'll definitely give a credit to BMW for such details. But once again, where's the "top safety" honor that Genesis has under its belt?
@Johncarson911 You're also not realizing that the Genesis came out mid to late cycle for everyone else so many of the models were 4+ years old and the new 5 series hasn't yet been tested by IIHS but got 5 stars from Euroncap which has additional and more stringent testing requirements than the IIHS. As for the new M56 it can't be rated as a top safety pick for 2010 because it came out too late. As it stands though, it has better ratings than the Genesis so in 2011, Genesis won't have that title
@sacdude20 Do you live by your assumptions all the time? These new auto safety reports came out just two months ago. Did you get that? Only two months ago! It's totally laughable you are continuing to claim that M56 is safer than Genesis, without any documentations or government studies. How do you go from bona-fide government safety tests to your little twisted statements like "Genesis won't have that title"? You do realize that your argument isn't going anywhere, don't you?
@Johncarson911 I'm not making any assumptions, I'm pulling this straight from factual data you can read for yourself by doing a basic google search or looking on the IIHS website! You're the one who is not doing ANY research and you have no idea what you're talking about. I'd post links if youtube would let me, but in the meantime, go and do the research yourself, its not that hard dude. As such, I'm going to break it down to you VERY carefully since you don't seem to get it.
@sacdude20 Yes, you are making an assumption by claiming that Hyundai will not get the "Top Safety" pick when in fact the test came out just two months ago. How the hell do you know what the satety test results will be for the next year? Do you see how you are making your own silly "assumptions" and "speculations"?
@Johncarson9112 No because hyundai is not releasing a new car for 2011 nor are the modifying it and, if you knew anything about what you are talking about, you'd realize that they don't retest cars unless a significant change to the car is made...so that is a fact, not an assumption. As for spending time, if you'd look at the comments I wrote, it took me but a few minutes to write that all down because I know this is fact. I'm telling YOU to go and spend the time researching
@Johncarson9112 Might I add that you're spending the same time arguing a point you have only part of the data on, so if you're going to insult me for taking 5 minutes to respond to a comment, you've basically just insulted yourself. Getting back to the topic though, I just provided factual data proving that hyundai only sqeaked by with a "best pick" compared to 5 and 6 year old cars, lol. Now, Merc has better ratings than the genesis as does infiniti...can't wait to see the 5 series.
@Johncarson9112 Firstly, the IIHS and Gov ratings are vastly different and often conflict one another. Adding to what you are ignorant of is that the Gov awarded the Genesis with 5 stars for the '08 and '09 models while the IIHS gave it only an "acceptable" rating. Even the 5 series (which already had a 4 year old body style) did better than that! This is because it did so poorly in the frontal crash ratings when the dummy's head bottomed out on the steering wheel and the knee indicated a break
@Johncarson9112 As for my comments, I only keep posting because people keep responding to what I originally commented about. I have no hang ups or personal issues with this car. I simply made a comment a while ago and all these hyundai freaks come out of the woodwork and start making bogus claims that are just factually incorrect. When I pointed out each lie they were making (and providing info on where to verify that), they just turn to childish insults because they hate being wrong, lol.
@sacdude20 Have you ever test driven Hyundai Genesis 4.6 in your life? Based on what I heard from you so far, I highly doubt that you have. As for upgrades, AutoSpies reported that Genesis is due for mid-cycle enhancements in and out along with the new V8 5.0 429HP engine option. At 5.5 seconds from 0-60, it's already a respectable sedan but with 429HP Genesis should perform even better. If that's not good enough for you, then what are you trying to do? Drag race on the way to work?
@Johncarson9112 I have test driven it when it first came out and I was not impressed. It just felt like a fat person's car with a very dull and cadillac-ish interior. As for a mid-cycle change, they're not going to add in the dozens of missing features otherwise it would cost too much for anyone to look at a hyundai. Furthermore, its not about drag racing anyone or being "good enough." I simply pointed out that all the others do it better...thus the genesis is sub par by definition.
@Johncarson9112 As for the cheap interior, that is all opinion based so you can't tell me I'm wrong. And I never said it looked identical to any cadillac, I said it had cadillac qualities about it like cheap plastics and fake metal that they try to pass off as high quality. Also, the layout of the mid dash just looks very poorly thought out and the rip off of the i-drive/command center isn't nearly as capable as the new bmw idrive or merc's command center. Again, I know because I've driven one.
@sacdude20 That's funny. I always thought MB and BMW have poorly thought out ceter clusters. BTW, your highly respected BMW falls behind Hyundai on JD Power's IQS and reliability tests. So far, you've dissed the US government's IIHS and in-house conducted safety test. Are you now prepared to diss JD Power as well?
@Johncarson9112 As for the Infiniti M37/56, ITS NOT A 2010 MODEL lol. You're quoting 2010 models and it’s a 2011...neither was the 5 series which is why there is no data for the 5 series and the data has just arrived for the M. As for facts, the M gets "good" in every category of frontal and rear crash tests and gets a "good" for all but the safety cage on side impact which is "acceptable". Hyundi gets an Acceptable for the safety cage AND rib fractures to the torso, thus, M is safer.
@Johncarson@Johncarson9112 As for the safety features, you need to do a little research on what classifies a "top pick" and realize that even a honda civic gets a top safety pick...they base it on very basic elements which is why when they retest top safety picks in slightly more aggressive crashes, many fail miserably and many of the german cars continue to do well.
You also have to remember that "safety" is a lot more than just surviving a crash...its about avoiding it too. See above
@sacdude20 If BMW and M56 have all those safety features as you mentioned, then why weren't they picked as the "top safety" cars in their class? There you go again with your "vague" assumptions. What do you mean by "slighty more aggressive crashes", "many fail miserably" and "many german cars continue to do well"? You're trying to make assumptions after assumptions without providing any tangible facts.
@Johncarson9112 You need to know what you're quoting and stop reading everything from hyundai's website and taking it as fact....do you know that hyundai originally got POOR ratings due to extreme leg injury and the dummy's head bottoming out on the airbag and striking the B pillar? Adding to my point, all hyundai did was add a little padding to the dash for the leg injuries but NOT fixing the problem i.e. knee airbags like lexus/bmw/merc/acura have. Also, Euroncap gives the new 5 series 5 stars
@Johncarson9112 So, since hyundai had the benefit of introducing a brand new car 4 years later than bmw (which averaged the same scores as its competitors at the time), and they STILL had worse ratings until 2010, thats no big accomplishment, its called marketing. Hyundai was smart to introduce a car that competed with 5 and 6 year old models to call itself superior. However, now that the big guys have new models, hyundai is losing in nearly every category...performance, luxury, and safety.
@Johncarson9112 By the way, I'm not making any "vague" assumptions. Euroncap has done a few high speed tests and, especially for vehicles that squeak by with half-ass improvements (i.e. adding padding to minimize only a 40mph impact rather than fixing the problem in its entirety), the results are much different. And as I JUST said before, the IIHS doesn't rate vehicles on additional safety items to AVOID a crash (aside from stability control). Also, the 5 was tested without optional equipment
@sacdude20 There you go again, once more. How do you measure "squeak by" and "half-ass improvements"? Don't you ever get it? Hyundai Genesis received "Top Safety" pick and BMW 550i didn't. If you try to twist these results, you ought to so at the agencies that tested them, but please don't do that to me. I'm not the one who tested these vehicles. I'm sure they are both safe vehicles, but I'd pick Hyundai Genesis for the money I save and once again its "Top Safety" award by the US Government.
@Johncarson9112 When hyundai made the changes, they were just good enough for the 40mph impact and pure logic/data will tell you that. Padding on the dash only gives about 1/8 of an inch of wiggle room so that, when speed is increased, the padding becomes useless since the knee will still make contact through the padding to the dash. The knee airbag extends more than an inch out and provides protection and prevents body acceleration to begin with. Thus, higher speeds would not be detrimental
@sacdude20 There is no pure logic/data that will tell you anything. Installing knee airbags obviously didn't help BMW to achieve "Top Safety" pick. So, there you go. Your logic is tossed right out the window. Sorry.
@Johncarson9112 Jesus, do your freaking research dude. Don't talk to me about safety until you go to the IIHS website and look for yourself. They haven't retested the 5 series since 04 because the body style never changed! They implimented knee airbags shortly after but the IIHS never retested the car. As for the hyundai, what part of THE FIRST TWO YEARS of the model are you not getting? It got worse ratings than the 5 series! It only got top pick for 2010 and they haven't tested the new 5 yet.
@sacdude20 Speculating again? You just said it yourself. They haven't retested the 5 series yet. Are you the "chosen one" with crystal ball? How the hell do you know that 550i will "surely" be the top safety pick next year? Once again, I am telling you. Stop with your assumptions. Okay? If you want to claim this and claim that, tell us your story when the test is finalized and the fact that 550i is indeed awarded with such distinction. Otherwise, all you're doing is blowing your smke. Okay?
@Johncarson9112 Here you go with twisting the facts...I never once said that the new 550i will get a top safety pick no doubt. I said its very likely since the Euroncap gave it 5 stars and the IIHS simply hasn't tested it yet. I said that the Infiniti M37/56 will get a top safety pick once they do the 2011s because it has already tested better than the Genesis....pay attention to the details and stop glossing over the facts and for gods sake, do your research!
@sacdude20 Did IIHS confirm the fact that m37/56 will get the "top safety" pick? You must have a crystal ball that just spits out all these things that haven't happened yet. Go back to your comments and read carefully again. You definitely "suggested" as if 550i will get the "to safety" pick.
@Johncarson9112 FYI, the new 5 is officially a top safety pick along with the E class. The M37 is as well, but by a slightly lesser amount (only an "acceptable" on its safety cage). And the Genesis? Still has only an "acceptable" rating on injuries to the torso and safety cage failure and scores less than the other three...hmm, care to eat your words? Looks like I knew exactly what I was talking about and you, yet again, do not. Enjoy your pos hyundai! lol
@MT323able First off, the Equus is not aimed at comparing to the 5 series...that is the job of the Genesis. They are aiming at the LS, S class and 7 series. As for calling a 5 series shit, just because you don't want to pay for the best, doesn't make it shit. At the end of the day, BMW offers over a dozen major features that Hyundai doesn't it its comparable Genesis and the soon to be released Equus. Hell, the 5 series has far more power than the Equus for starters...don't hate
@sacdude20 "As for calling a 5 series shit, just because you don't want to pay for the best, doesn't make it shit." well if u compare what the Equus offers vs what the 5 series offers for the money=5 series shit.
@MT323able Actually, you're very misinformed. First off, the Equus doesn't even have pricing info for the US yet so you can't say it is a better deal for fact. However hyundai is notorious for being cheap, so you might get many similar features, but I know for fact it isn't all. For starters, it has far less torque than a 550, its heavier, and its "luxury" items focus on the ghetto consumers hyundai attracts, concentrating on flashy items and hijacked hybrid looks...again, its nothing impressive
@sacdude20 Here's another thing you need to consider when it comes to BMW. All models built buy the company are known to have electrical/electronic problems in the past. Many BMW owners have complained about annoying electrical problems such as center console panels going haywire. Power window regulators going bad within 3-4 years. A/C units and vents not working properly within less than 2 years. In fact, both BMW and MB are notorious with these types of issues.
@Johncarson9112 As for "electrical problems" thats only for a few models, not all. Specifically the 7 series because there is so much new and innovative tech stuff in them. Hyundai has literally never invented a single piece of automotive technology that is used today...not a one. When you ride off of 10 year old technology, of course its going to be reliable. Since the Genesis dosn't offer well over a dozen major performance/luxury features as BMW/Merc, it has less to go wrong, plain and simple
@sacdude20 I know there are more than few models. Don't try to downplay number of BMW models that have had electrical/electronic problems. If there are more than half, that's not "few". That's called "majority". I think you're being a bit sneaky with your one-sided story telling. I don't really consider faulty window regulators after less than two years of ownership, a problem coming from "technically innovative" designs of BMW. Please don't make me laugh.
@sacdude20 Having said that, how the hell do you know that BMW models with all those safety gizzmoes and electronic sensors will work flawlessly without any problem? Having heard about problems with BMW and MB, I am not so sure if it's worth to spend extra 20-30K just for the brand sake. Like I said, Hyundai scored better than BMW on JD Power IQS and reliability. You need to stop dissing Hyundai, US government studies as well as reputable rev
Why didn't Hyundai just create a luxury brand on its own for the Genesis and Equus?

There is no intention that I criticize at all if Hyundai does not steal the design of the other company.
Since Hyundai is calm and steals the design of the other company, it is criticized.

Wannabe losers perhaps?
henryleder 3 months ago
All cars cater to a certain demographic. I like the Genesis because it caters to someone who doesn't care to brandish a badge or look good to impress others. It appeals to me who wants a nice looking car that is also reliable and performs well with many luxury features. I like the fact that I didn't spend a lot of money to get this. I would rather spend my money on something else worthwhile like my kids. But if you like brand-prestige & high dollar cars, more power to you. I won't criticize

To the Haters:

None overtook their targeted market even thought they claimed they would

biyorkman 1 year ago
No Hyundai has succeeded. I do not envy it. The strategy is only in sales of Hyundai of this car by a low price. The transmission of this car is made in Germany. 3.8l is made in Japan. In a word, Hyundai doesn't have the technology that makes an automatic transmission by itself. I am sure not to envy the car that it has the ability only in cheap sales. It is not limited to this car that I want to denounce it and Hyundai is a thing to steal the others' designs.

When an $80,000 Mercedes depreciates by $50,000 in 3 years doesn't that make it a bad investment.? ... I ask.. how smart are the people who buy these cars.. really?

This car is almost as good as its competitors, but not quite...it still doesn't offer a long list of luxury features that BMW/Merc offer (which is why those two cost more...you get what you pay for!) and its only closest rival is the very outdated GS which is due for an update soon. Thats like a 25yo claiming victory in a boxing match over a 60yo grandma...Besides, the GS was never a ground breaking car (most lexus cars aren't) to begin with. Even then, it will just be another stab in the dark at its competitors and the only thing it comes close to is the way overpriced LS because the LS is currently the stepchild of the large luxury sedan world...the equus will now take that place, bumping up the LS

@supatoker420 Good point. I don't think sacdude20 even test drove Genesis 4.6 in his life. Genesis is actually very nice car for the money. If you are so rich and spending extra 20-30K on BMW is nothing to you, you should definitely buy BMW 5 series. Did your neighbor buy a Genesis 4.6 sedan and bragged and lied about the car? I'm not so sure why you're taking it so personally? I doesn't sound like you'll ever buy a Hyundai car, anyway. So, what gives?
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 In performance and luxury features, the infiniti M56, the BMW 550i, and the Merc E550 all offer far more luxury and safety features while outrunning and out performing the genesis. The only performance the genesis comes close to is the Lexus GS, but its also due for an model update. And the genesis isn't just missing a few features....more like a dozen or more major features/services offered by every other competitor. Plus, the genesis is lackluster...you get what you pay for.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 So, what are those safety features that are in M56, 550i and E550 but not in Genesis? Can you name them? Did you hear about Genesis and E550 having the top safety ratings. You didn't hear any of that, did you?
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 As for exact missing features, the 550i has knee airbags, automatic emergency support when airbag deployment is detected, night vision, blind spot detection, run flat tires etc, adaptive break lights, crash sensors that cut off the alternator, fuel pump, and starter from the battery while unlocking doors/opening windows for ventilation etc...Merc has a few other things like the drowsiness sensor and the M56 has many of the same features as the 550. Hyundai has none of these.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Knee airbags? That's a good one. I'll definitely give a credit to BMW for such details. But once again, where's the "top safety" honor that Genesis has under its belt?
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson911 You're also not realizing that the Genesis came out mid to late cycle for everyone else so many of the models were 4+ years old and the new 5 series hasn't yet been tested by IIHS but got 5 stars from Euroncap which has additional and more stringent testing requirements than the IIHS. As for the new M56 it can't be rated as a top safety pick for 2010 because it came out too late. As it stands though, it has better ratings than the Genesis so in 2011, Genesis won't have that title
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Do you live by your assumptions all the time? These new auto safety reports came out just two months ago. Did you get that? Only two months ago! It's totally laughable you are continuing to claim that M56 is safer than Genesis, without any documentations or government studies. How do you go from bona-fide government safety tests to your little twisted statements like "Genesis won't have that title"? You do realize that your argument isn't going anywhere, don't you?
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson911 I'm not making any assumptions, I'm pulling this straight from factual data you can read for yourself by doing a basic google search or looking on the IIHS website! You're the one who is not doing ANY research and you have no idea what you're talking about. I'd post links if youtube would let me, but in the meantime, go and do the research yourself, its not that hard dude. As such, I'm going to break it down to you VERY carefully since you don't seem to get it.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Yes, you are making an assumption by claiming that Hyundai will not get the "Top Safety" pick when in fact the test came out just two months ago. How the hell do you know what the satety test results will be for the next year? Do you see how you are making your own silly "assumptions" and "speculations"?
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 No because hyundai is not releasing a new car for 2011 nor are the modifying it and, if you knew anything about what you are talking about, you'd realize that they don't retest cars unless a significant change to the car is made...so that is a fact, not an assumption. As for spending time, if you'd look at the comments I wrote, it took me but a few minutes to write that all down because I know this is fact. I'm telling YOU to go and spend the time researching
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Wow! You're actually spending all that time just to win a stupid argument over this video. You really need to get a life.
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 Might I add that you're spending the same time arguing a point you have only part of the data on, so if you're going to insult me for taking 5 minutes to respond to a comment, you've basically just insulted yourself. Getting back to the topic though, I just provided factual data proving that hyundai only sqeaked by with a "best pick" compared to 5 and 6 year old cars, lol. Now, Merc has better ratings than the genesis as does infiniti...can't wait to see the 5 series.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 Firstly, the IIHS and Gov ratings are vastly different and often conflict one another. Adding to what you are ignorant of is that the Gov awarded the Genesis with 5 stars for the '08 and '09 models while the IIHS gave it only an "acceptable" rating. Even the 5 series (which already had a 4 year old body style) did better than that! This is because it did so poorly in the frontal crash ratings when the dummy's head bottomed out on the steering wheel and the knee indicated a break
sacdude20 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 As for my comments, I only keep posting because people keep responding to what I originally commented about. I have no hang ups or personal issues with this car. I simply made a comment a while ago and all these hyundai freaks come out of the woodwork and start making bogus claims that are just factually incorrect. When I pointed out each lie they were making (and providing info on where to verify that), they just turn to childish insults because they hate being wrong, lol.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Have you ever test driven Hyundai Genesis 4.6 in your life? Based on what I heard from you so far, I highly doubt that you have. As for upgrades, AutoSpies reported that Genesis is due for mid-cycle enhancements in and out along with the new V8 5.0 429HP engine option. At 5.5 seconds from 0-60, it's already a respectable sedan but with 429HP Genesis should perform even better. If that's not good enough for you, then what are you trying to do? Drag race on the way to work?
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 I have test driven it when it first came out and I was not impressed. It just felt like a fat person's car with a very dull and cadillac-ish interior. As for a mid-cycle change, they're not going to add in the dozens of missing features otherwise it would cost too much for anyone to look at a hyundai. Furthermore, its not about drag racing anyone or being "good enough." I simply pointed out that all the others do it better...thus the genesis is sub par by definition.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Wrong. I don't think you actually drove Genesis before in your life. Interior of Genesis looks nothing like cadillac.
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 As for the cheap interior, that is all opinion based so you can't tell me I'm wrong. And I never said it looked identical to any cadillac, I said it had cadillac qualities about it like cheap plastics and fake metal that they try to pass off as high quality. Also, the layout of the mid dash just looks very poorly thought out and the rip off of the i-drive/command center isn't nearly as capable as the new bmw idrive or merc's command center. Again, I know because I've driven one.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 That's funny. I always thought MB and BMW have poorly thought out ceter clusters. BTW, your highly respected BMW falls behind Hyundai on JD Power's IQS and reliability tests. So far, you've dissed the US government's IIHS and in-house conducted safety test. Are you now prepared to diss JD Power as well?
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 As for the Infiniti M37/56, ITS NOT A 2010 MODEL lol. You're quoting 2010 models and it’s a 2011...neither was the 5 series which is why there is no data for the 5 series and the data has just arrived for the M. As for facts, the M gets "good" in every category of frontal and rear crash tests and gets a "good" for all but the safety cage on side impact which is "acceptable". Hyundi gets an Acceptable for the safety cage AND rib fractures to the torso, thus, M is safer.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@Johncarson @Johncarson9112 As for the safety features, you need to do a little research on what classifies a "top pick" and realize that even a honda civic gets a top safety pick...they base it on very basic elements which is why when they retest top safety picks in slightly more aggressive crashes, many fail miserably and many of the german cars continue to do well.
You also have to remember that "safety" is a lot more than just surviving a crash...its about avoiding it too. See above
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 If BMW and M56 have all those safety features as you mentioned, then why weren't they picked as the "top safety" cars in their class? There you go again with your "vague" assumptions. What do you mean by "slighty more aggressive crashes", "many fail miserably" and "many german cars continue to do well"? You're trying to make assumptions after assumptions without providing any tangible facts.
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 You need to know what you're quoting and stop reading everything from hyundai's website and taking it as fact....do you know that hyundai originally got POOR ratings due to extreme leg injury and the dummy's head bottoming out on the airbag and striking the B pillar? Adding to my point, all hyundai did was add a little padding to the dash for the leg injuries but NOT fixing the problem i.e. knee airbags like lexus/bmw/merc/acura have. Also, Euroncap gives the new 5 series 5 stars
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Are you making up stories, now? Where's your proof that Hyundai Genesis is less safe than other cars in its class?
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 So, since hyundai had the benefit of introducing a brand new car 4 years later than bmw (which averaged the same scores as its competitors at the time), and they STILL had worse ratings until 2010, thats no big accomplishment, its called marketing. Hyundai was smart to introduce a car that competed with 5 and 6 year old models to call itself superior. However, now that the big guys have new models, hyundai is losing in nearly every category...performance, luxury, and safety.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 By the way, I'm not making any "vague" assumptions. Euroncap has done a few high speed tests and, especially for vehicles that squeak by with half-ass improvements (i.e. adding padding to minimize only a 40mph impact rather than fixing the problem in its entirety), the results are much different. And as I JUST said before, the IIHS doesn't rate vehicles on additional safety items to AVOID a crash (aside from stability control). Also, the 5 was tested without optional equipment
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 There you go again, once more. How do you measure "squeak by" and "half-ass improvements"? Don't you ever get it? Hyundai Genesis received "Top Safety" pick and BMW 550i didn't. If you try to twist these results, you ought to so at the agencies that tested them, but please don't do that to me. I'm not the one who tested these vehicles. I'm sure they are both safe vehicles, but I'd pick Hyundai Genesis for the money I save and once again its "Top Safety" award by the US Government.
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 When hyundai made the changes, they were just good enough for the 40mph impact and pure logic/data will tell you that. Padding on the dash only gives about 1/8 of an inch of wiggle room so that, when speed is increased, the padding becomes useless since the knee will still make contact through the padding to the dash. The knee airbag extends more than an inch out and provides protection and prevents body acceleration to begin with. Thus, higher speeds would not be detrimental
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 There is no pure logic/data that will tell you anything. Installing knee airbags obviously didn't help BMW to achieve "Top Safety" pick. So, there you go. Your logic is tossed right out the window. Sorry.
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 Jesus, do your freaking research dude. Don't talk to me about safety until you go to the IIHS website and look for yourself. They haven't retested the 5 series since 04 because the body style never changed! They implimented knee airbags shortly after but the IIHS never retested the car. As for the hyundai, what part of THE FIRST TWO YEARS of the model are you not getting? It got worse ratings than the 5 series! It only got top pick for 2010 and they haven't tested the new 5 yet.
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Speculating again? You just said it yourself. They haven't retested the 5 series yet. Are you the "chosen one" with crystal ball? How the hell do you know that 550i will "surely" be the top safety pick next year? Once again, I am telling you. Stop with your assumptions. Okay? If you want to claim this and claim that, tell us your story when the test is finalized and the fact that 550i is indeed awarded with such distinction. Otherwise, all you're doing is blowing your smke. Okay?
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 Here you go with twisting the facts...I never once said that the new 550i will get a top safety pick no doubt. I said its very likely since the Euroncap gave it 5 stars and the IIHS simply hasn't tested it yet. I said that the Infiniti M37/56 will get a top safety pick once they do the 2011s because it has already tested better than the Genesis....pay attention to the details and stop glossing over the facts and for gods sake, do your research!
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Did IIHS confirm the fact that m37/56 will get the "top safety" pick? You must have a crystal ball that just spits out all these things that haven't happened yet. Go back to your comments and read carefully again. You definitely "suggested" as if 550i will get the "to safety" pick.
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 FYI, the new 5 is officially a top safety pick along with the E class. The M37 is as well, but by a slightly lesser amount (only an "acceptable" on its safety cage). And the Genesis? Still has only an "acceptable" rating on injuries to the torso and safety cage failure and scores less than the other three...hmm, care to eat your words? Looks like I knew exactly what I was talking about and you, yet again, do not. Enjoy your pos hyundai! lol
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Hahaha lets compare a shitty 5 series with a Equus. Pos 5 series!!
MT323able 1 year ago
@MT323able First off, the Equus is not aimed at comparing to the 5 series...that is the job of the Genesis. They are aiming at the LS, S class and 7 series. As for calling a 5 series shit, just because you don't want to pay for the best, doesn't make it shit. At the end of the day, BMW offers over a dozen major features that Hyundai doesn't it its comparable Genesis and the soon to be released Equus. Hell, the 5 series has far more power than the Equus for starters...don't hate
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 "As for calling a 5 series shit, just because you don't want to pay for the best, doesn't make it shit." well if u compare what the Equus offers vs what the 5 series offers for the money=5 series shit.
MT323able 1 year ago
@MT323able Actually, you're very misinformed. First off, the Equus doesn't even have pricing info for the US yet so you can't say it is a better deal for fact. However hyundai is notorious for being cheap, so you might get many similar features, but I know for fact it isn't all. For starters, it has far less torque than a 550, its heavier, and its "luxury" items focus on the ghetto consumers hyundai attracts, concentrating on flashy items and hijacked hybrid looks...again, its nothing impressive
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Here's another thing you need to consider when it comes to BMW. All models built buy the company are known to have electrical/electronic problems in the past. Many BMW owners have complained about annoying electrical problems such as center console panels going haywire. Power window regulators going bad within 3-4 years. A/C units and vents not working properly within less than 2 years. In fact, both BMW and MB are notorious with these types of issues.
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@Johncarson9112 As for "electrical problems" thats only for a few models, not all. Specifically the 7 series because there is so much new and innovative tech stuff in them. Hyundai has literally never invented a single piece of automotive technology that is used today...not a one. When you ride off of 10 year old technology, of course its going to be reliable. Since the Genesis dosn't offer well over a dozen major performance/luxury features as BMW/Merc, it has less to go wrong, plain and simple
sacdude20 1 year ago
@sacdude20 I know there are more than few models. Don't try to downplay number of BMW models that have had electrical/electronic problems. If there are more than half, that's not "few". That's called "majority". I think you're being a bit sneaky with your one-sided story telling. I don't really consider faulty window regulators after less than two years of ownership, a problem coming from "technically innovative" designs of BMW. Please don't make me laugh.
Johncarson9112 1 year ago
@sacdude20 Having said that, how the hell do you know that BMW models with all those safety gizzmoes and electronic sensors will work flawlessly without any problem? Having heard about problems with BMW and MB, I am not so sure if it's worth to spend extra 20-30K just for the brand sake. Like I said, Hyundai scored better than BMW on JD Power IQS and reliability. You need to stop dissing Hyundai, US government studies as well as reputable rev
