@jerrynuevo Yea that's why they were inducted into the gospel music hall of fame. If you knew anything at all about the music of the time, these guys were the POWERHOUSES of gospel power quartets. If you can't say anything nice say nothing at all!
@cary19642003 c'mon dude....don't use the gospel hall of fame to validate. This is the same "organization that inducted elvis presley and Johnny Cash into the gospel HOF. You are are indeed right if I can't something nice then I will not say anything at all. If only the whole world wide web would take your advice. God bless you. The still suck though.
@cary19642003 you are soooo right dude...I know nothing about the farce called "music". I surrender my freedom of speech on this post. I shall let them suck in peace. You've got a point. I will just drink my yoo hoo and sthu.
its so good to here a good Christian song without this new so called Christian music. I think this new christian music is trash. God wouldn't be singing along with it.
Thanks for posting this great Christian song. i love it. :)
I was privileged to be able to see and hear The Plainsmen Quartet in person monthly in Wichita, KS for many years. In my opinion, the group as they appeared a little later than this video with Thurman, Jack, Howard, Jay Simmons and Eddie Crook at the piano was the best quartet I've ever heard and I've seen them all through the years.
Jay Simmons? That guy was one of the best bass singers I've ever heard. I still listen to "Relax" album. Wished Gaither would have featured Jay and Roy McNeil on a tape.
@wendythev Greetings, I am the Nephew of Original Plainsmen Bass singer Joe B. Davis. Joe left due to illness in 1957. He is sorely missed. I have an original 78 of this song from that time with Joe singing on it and it still amazes me! I have extensive record collection (original) and information on this quartet if anyone needs it. This particular video is circa 1962. Feel free to contact me!
wow this is an amazing video, i've seen the cathedrals do this song as well, but this is just totally different, and i mean that in a good way, such good harmony :)
i love the part when they slow down!

OMG i love The New Plainsmen Quartet. Went to see them in Tyler and I walked out of the church felling 150% better than when I went in.

I forgot to mention in the comment below that I first saw the Plainsmen in the late 50's. I would love to see a video of Jay Simmons.

My dad, Jay Simmons, took over bass after Rusty. Send videos if you have any!

That's Thurman Bunch on tenor, & Jack Maynard on lead. Jack is the best lead I've ever heard. Reminds me of Duane Allen of the ORB's.

Remember....... this group with RUSTY sang with Johnny Horton on North To Alaska....... 'WAY UP NORTH........"

Thanks for the Johnny Horton info. I often wondered who was singing with him.

Love these old clips! Any idea of the year on this one?

Early 60's -- I think Rusty was gone by 1964. Some Plainsmen "experts" could probably give an exact date.

Another Good one. The Plainsmen have a sound similar to the Statesmen with Denver (esp at the end of this song).
