the conventional paddler fails to paddle through the wave allowing the boat to slow down on a higher part of the wave.
Epic makes good boats (Even if in China) but they are mostly fast forward craft that can dust off my Capella unless they have to turn.
I would take my Explorewr or Capella any day and for speed and a cpmpromise a Nordcapp LV would be my choice. Hey I am saving for one now, the NDK Is old and rough.
Which would I prefer? depends on the use. If you want to go fast in a straight line on big seas, take the epic any day. Of course it has no rocker - it's like a surf ski. However if you want a highly maneuverable boat that responds well to all manner of turns, then take a shorter highly rockered boat.
Hmm maybe I was on to something when I bought an ancient Aquaterra Chinook. And I thought I was just being cheap :)

the wave was not even breaking where the Epic cut it on the second slide, Chexck out the lack of spray so the wave was not as steep there.
I work in an industry driven by fiddling numbers, slight of hand and deceiving presentations: It's sad seeing kayaking go down that road..

Lets look at where they hit that wave.....
How long is the Epic Kayak?

I'll take the brit boat in rough water. Had both styles. Get that epic sideways in the surf and try to turn before getting slammed....
