Lines 10-16 are the little noticed clause that makes issuing a new policy once the bill passes no longer possible. And everyone knows when you make even minor changes on an insurance policy they cancel the old one and issue a new one which by the letter of this law would no longer be legal.

You are correct in saying that emergency rooms will accept anyone, however, you ignore the fact that most of the people coming in through the ER rely on the ER as their primary care physician because they cant afford any insurance for whatever reason! Then, people are surrounded for debt, who knows, probably for years and years. And if you were listening to obama, he said you can choose whatever health care plan you want or keep the one you have.

Page 14 of the current version of the bill has a provision that says that after this law take effect you can no longer buy a private insurance policy or make changes to your existing policy... in effect it makes writing a healh policy to a private citizen after this passes illegal.
So when Obama says that you have a choice, and if you like your current care you can keep it he is only telling a half truth. If you have a policy you can keep it but after this passes the choice goes away
the choice after this passes will be ONLY the public plan. And if you wish to change something on your existing policy once this is law you will not be allowed to... and will be forced to roll over into the govt plan. That is in the current version of the bill. I say that if this care is what we deserve as citizens then it should be included in the bill that all the senators, congressmen, and even the president will be on the same plan as we are and get rid of the plan they currently use

SEC. 102. PROTECTING THE CHOICE TO KEEP CURRENT COVERAGE
Lines 10-16 are the little noticed clause that makes issuing a new policy once the bill passes no longer possible. And everyone knows when you make even minor changes on an insurance policy they cancel the old one and issue a new one which by the letter of this law would no longer be legal.

You are correct in saying that emergency rooms will accept anyone, however, you ignore the fact that most of the people coming in through the ER rely on the ER as their primary care physician because they cant afford any insurance for whatever reason! Then, people are surrounded for debt, who knows, probably for years and years. And if you were listening to obama, he said you can choose whatever health care plan you want or keep the one you have.

Page 14 of the current version of the bill has a provision that says that after this law take effect you can no longer buy a private insurance policy or make changes to your existing policy... in effect it makes writing a healh policy to a private citizen after this passes illegal.
So when Obama says that you have a choice, and if you like your current care you can keep it he is only telling a half truth. If you have a policy you can keep it but after this passes the choice goes away

the choice after this passes will be ONLY the public plan. And if you wish to change something on your existing policy once this is law you will not be allowed to... and will be forced to roll over into the govt plan. That is in the current version of the bill. I say that if this care is what we deserve as citizens then it should be included in the bill that all the senators, congressmen, and even the president will be on the same plan as we are and get rid of the plan they currently use
