  • he was my hero growing up... I got my nickname doing laybacks "Buckets"

  • fern grotto?

  • song pleaseee

  • thx for the tips this helped a lot!

  • its so beautiful

  • i can throw some buckets on my laybacks its just gettin back up that's the hard party

  • BUCKETS!!!!!Pancho is for sure a classic power surfer!!!!Old skool for eva

  • still reckon Occy has the best layback around

  • anyone got any tips on how to do this? If feels awkward having my legs twist in one direction and my upper body in another. I can do the layback sometimes, but I can't get up haha.

  • ya man, you gotta have alot of strength in your front leg hamstring/ quad, more so the back of your thigh cause you use that muscle most to really pull the board back under you, like when you snap out and maybe you back foot comes off, then its all on your front leg and using the wave to push you back up over you board at the same time. so stretching becomes useful at this point.

  • as pancho says pick ur spot on the lip make the bottom hand turn and put all the power into it and really trow ur backfoot but at the same time and as your doing this shove ur arm in the face of the wave and try and pull urself up with ur arm and use the wave

  • i surfed a small day at OTW! it was 2-4 ft . Pancho was throwing huge buckets that day. powerful surfer. awesome to see live

  • just perfected this 2day! so stoked, i used 2 always fall off the back of the wave but now i know what i did wrong.

  • i call this a slash back

  • No, its called a Larry!

  • woooow

  • ah yeah the guy two comments back did, did you read? can you read?

  • Actually this was Peter Townend's signature move in the 70's. Way before Curren. Still looks good 30 years later!

  • @swmartinez50 Thought that said Pete Townshend, his signature is the windmill

  • Ok, this is my first comment I have ever left on You Tube, but as a lifetime surfer I can't let this slide. Pancho's "signature move"!!!? Please, give Tom Curren the respect he deserves. He pioneered this menuver and still kills the lay-back snap like no one else!

  • Is it amazing he has not won a contest? When I do this trick I call it the "I almost messed up cut back".

  • chee heee!

  • right now, these tips are awesome!

  • awesome!
