its funny.... everyone blames Phillip Fulmer but he won a National Championship the next year with T Martin at quarterback. If Peyton had come to Tennessee in 1996 he would have won probably 2 championships and the Heisman for sure.
If I recall correctly, Jamal Lewis was not even used until about midway during the season. Up to that point they had "no running game," then suddenly they discovered they had Lewis. That is the way I remember it.

Then you have that same coach sit Jamal Lewis against Florida the next year. Then you have an idiot defensive coordinator trying to run a 4-3 defense against an option attack in the Nebraska game in 95 and 97!
@deltapunk21 Because Florida had Danney Wuerfell, Reidel Anthony, Ike Hilliar, Jacquez Green, Alex Brown, Thaddeus Bullard, Jevon Kearse, Fred Taylor and Fred Weary. We weren't the only team with absurd talent in the 90s.
If Cutcliffe and Fulmer had figured out how to use Lewis earlier, we might have beaten UF and played for it all. They were worried about his pass blocking and didnt play him.
