  • How does he achieve that texture????

  • Hez a bad mutha fucka"

  • Dude, your voice sounds like a creepy serial killer. Anyway, nice video dude!

  • Aerial map yeah. little like 'lavender mist' i was thinking.

  • james always sounds like hes been wolfing down hammys

  • "perfection of means and confusion of goals seem, in my opinion, to characterize our age."

    Albert Einstein

  • didn't he used to be a hairdresser, his early pieces were made from hair colour samples, very nice colours. he is maturing into an interesting artist. i thought his sculptures were a nice new direction. thank you , mr. kalm, your choices are a gift to me, thanks.

  • spec-f'ing-tacular!!!!!!!! these are insanely gorgeous. the designs are ominous and delicate. this artist has an intimate relationship with his medium.

    thanks james!

  • Just saw this show on Friday the 15th. I really liked the textures accomplished in the work.

  • some kind of ghetto chic? james, that just slipped out...

  • seintzeit,

If you read his bio, (available at the Sikkima Jenkins web site) you'll see this isn't too far off the mark, specifically South LA. ( Stream of consciousness and silver leaf not withstanding.)

  • i think ghetto fabulous would be more accurate...

  • come on... there are all kinds of ghetto's in america. white, black, hispanic, asian, and multiple european ghettos. lots of us grow up in these enviroments and lots of us work hard to rise above. political correctness is not always useful. EAT THE RICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • there may be all kinds of ghettos, but they are not all equally easy to get out of

  • And Some of us are trying to get in to a ghetto, the snazzy art ghetto, JK

  • If you read the last Whitney Bi-catalog it explains how he obsessively picked up all kinds of stuff from the LA streets as a sort of documentation through the trash he finds.

  • you and jerry salz ;)

once you get there all this naive art stuff turns out to be commerce...

  • there is nothing naive about this work. naive artists suck and can't help it. thus we pity/cherish the artists effort. these are very complex intesive works. this work is extremely advanced.

  • thanks clement greenberg for clarifying that, but i was responding to james' comment about wanting to get into the glitzy art ghetto...

  • lol on on the clement greenberg.

  • the important thing is mr. bradfords work, his appearance on the PBS show Art of the 21st Cen.(you can find it on youtube) is really revealing about his character, he's a unique and interesting artist no matter were he comes from.:)

  • I very much would like to see this in person. Puckered substrate meets grinder and belt sander, right? The gridded sections were cut into the work? Stunning work. Thanks.

  • Hadn't heard about this show. Thanks.
