Strange opening for this 5 versus 4 minute sudden death type game. White should have opted for an opening which gives him a slight plus with initiative and not allow black an easy game. But then again i am only a 2300 player and both these guys could beat me 80% of the time.

No he can't play Qd4+ because black has a pawn on c5 so if he plays Qd4+ he loose his Queen.
