This interview must be in that short time between the release of "Illusion(s)" and when Izzy left the band in late 1991 (dates vary from 8/31 to 11/7). He really was critical to the band as a song writer and someone who knew Axl for 15 years). I simply love the guitar he plays in the "Jungle" vid.

Man Izzy was Guns N' Roses. He gets no credit, but he was one of the lead song writers next to Axl. No wonder they couldn't go on after he left. He was one of the most vital parts of the band, but he was quiet so no one knows who the hell he is.

It's well documented that Steven was too strung out to play on the Illusion albums. They actually delayed recording several months to get Steven better... but it was a hopeless situation. See Slash's bio. There was a major court case about it. Steven won $2,000,000. I'm sure it's all in the legal case under oath. As opposed to random people on YouTubr talking shit.

Izzy left for a variety of reasons. He looked pretty tired in 1991, he wasn't the kind of guy who wanted to be in the big scene, of course he wanted to be something else but Gn'R was... how can I say it, ultra-extra-super famous. They were on the top of the world and Izzy didn't saw that coming. So, to cut it short, he left for:

1. Izzy's lifestyle.

2. Axl's bad behavior and that insanity shit to control everything.

3. Duff and Slash's 'out-of-control' drug addiction.

4. Matt's drumming.

Izzy was pretty much the reason g n r got big, slash is an amazing guitarist and axl is a one of a kind amazing vocalist but there are thousands of those all over the world that never make it big because what makes a band big is song writing. Izzy wrote EVERY G n R song on appetite( with a bit of help from the othres in some situqations) other than 3 songs and most of the most popular songs on illusion 1 + 2, he is why g n r got big....

I think just before the tour started Izzy even let Steven live at his house so Izzy could try keep an eye on him and try help him clean up. I think Izzy had hopes Steven would return but it probably became clear that Axl would not have anything to do with Steven after he gave the drugs to Erin that almost killed her

@WayneWiblin according to steven's book, erin came to stevens house accompanied by a friend and was totally out of it. her and axl had a fight previously and it was said that her friend had given her valium. when she got to the hospital and was tested, it was revealed that she had also taken heroin as well as valium. axl then rung up steven and threatened to kill him as he thought steven had given her the drugs...thats what it says in stevens book, just incase anything else comes up about it :)

I wish that they could have a reunion but I doubt it, especially Slash now that he has an awesome solo album "Slash".

Not really a Guns N' Roses fan, but I gotta say, Izzy seems pretty cool, and probably the most well rounded of the guys who were in the band as far as sobriety and getting his shit together is concerned. Shame he and the rest of the guys had to put up with Asshole Rose. And also, why wasn't Izzy in Velvet Revolver ? Was he on bad terms w/ Slash and Duff at the time, or asked to join and declined ? Izzy was part of the project that became Velvet Revolver, but when the issue of a singer came up he bailed. He wanted to be the singer along with Duff, but Slash and Duff insisted on getting a lead singer. Given what went on with Axl, Izzy wanted nothing to do with another diva lead singer. Sure enough, they hired Scott Weiland and it turned into a trainwreck after a few years because of the same kind of diva crap. In any event, Izzy is now on good terms with Axl.
