Perelman refused the Fields Medal (and the million dollar millenium prize) because he is an idealist in the highest degree, a genius without a sense of entitlement. It took 18 man-years just for experts to verify his proof... and no errors were found. The work was so compact and advanced that they were often forced to consult Perelman himself for clarification, after which they would inevitably realize the original wording was more or less the most concise and accurate possible.
Put it this way ... someone has to work at McDonald's ... someone has to drive the taxies ... someone has to mow lawns ... take out the garbage ... those 8 million views are those people.
Any loop on a sphere can be contracted to a point? So what's the point? Mebius strip? Non-Eucludian geometry? Euler's bridges? How the fuck are all those things connected in this crazy video?!? Cups turning into daughnuts. (So that you drink tea and then eat the cup) And a loop on a torus can't be contracted to a point? Why prove it algebraically?!?
What is it with all these ridiculous videos that think they can explain the poincare conjecture and geometry in music videos. I've only seen one that even comes close to properly explaining the historical background and proper context. I guess I'll have to develop a decent presentation out my thesis.
Thanks a lot for this video. Is really inspirator and encouraging... many times, when I am weak spiritually then I See this video and it give me desire for learn Mathematics and no to desist... thanks!
This is a great work. Thanks for sharing it. Maybe you could consider creating a movie about the development of euclidean, differential, algebraic and modern geometry in general, and also about the calabi yau manifold.
Great video, great editing, beautiful music, intriguing story, and inspiring. Fantastic

I do agree with previous commentators. Well done! Absolutely well done, the music just reaches out the extra miles to the dimensions beyond.

I recommend to anyone with curiosity in math in general to read the work by Euler ""the seven bridges of konigsberg". it is amazing
