  • well a diet clinic worked for me...

  • @Kat: Sorry for all these comments but I -3 your videos! :) I hope you contentine to stay healthy! Your lucky you got over this and ate doing something about this. I most likely will never get better because I'm stubborn and refuse help.

  • Female.

  • I went from 104 lbs to 80 lbs. I'm 5'2".

  • OMG! Your right. The diet industrey is fucked up! Trying to MAKE YOU ANOREXIC! The should go to jail! The only reason they don't is caus there industry is worth millions of dollars! I'm 13 turning 14 and I have been dieting/starving since I was 12 because of the diet industry! And everyone pressing me to lose weight! And I had too an so many other Eating Disorter people had to suffer!

  • "And getting the help you needed." !?!?!?! WTF!!

  • OMFG!!! You live where I lived!! o;!

  • I apprechate what you had done for I am a recovering eating discorder person and I wish that I had never been a person with an eating discorder in the frist place. Thank you! Thank you very much!

  • I'm glad you did this... people need to know that its unhealthy to lose a ridiculous amount of weight......And that diet clinics are just trying to scam you..... But if you happened to be overweight then you would just be scammed out of your money.....

  • omg that was awsome:)

  • That's so shocking! Especially when you were talking like an anorexic and she just nodded along. You'd think they'd train these consultants to recognise signs of eating disorders if they had any morals whatsoever. Good job!

  • You ROCK!

  • That is PATHETIC!!!! :( That woman was really, really stupid......

  • brilliant! Very brave!

  • wow...good job, girl!you showed a really big and important problem. This is so sad that so called "clinics" use people for money without any ethics, any principles, without any attention to health....That's why all of us have to take care of ourselves without hoping that some magical power can save us or make us healthy, beautiful and happy...Good luck to you all!

  • wow...... what ignorant people. How on earth can someone who works in a clinic be retarded enough to say 'irrealistic' wow.... what a stupid girl. If i were seriously going to a diet clinic to lose weight and the person who was consulting me said something like that i'd have walked out immediately. I am passing this video along thanks Kat ^_^

  • I hope you showed this to news programs like Dateline, etc., because you did a FANTASTIC job!!

  • you did a good job girl!!!!! BRAVO!!!!

  • "irrelalistic" wow...haha

  • just so everyone knows commercial diets can be dangerous to fat people too. i am a victim of the early 90s nutrisystem gallstone cases and i was only 15 when i got them. i am very lucky to be alive cause i ended up with acute pancreatitis and was given a 10% chance of living. i am 34 now and have lots of health problems and if i am lucky i will see 55. if i can give one piece of advice to people stop focusing on weight and focus on life if you dont control the food it cant control you.

  • wow i'm so sorry that that happened! :( if that doesn't discourage people to do this shit then i don't know what will :/

  • if i could have one wish it would make it illegal for any commercial diet center to accept minors to join and all participants must be supervised by their personal doctors. if these places are legit they would be willing to work with the doctors and the patient could be monitored properly. your life is worth more than a dollar or fitting into that swimsuit. i wish i could change my past but i cant and i no longer care to fit into todays new fads. i have lost 100 pounds on my own no diets.

  • Just so you all know, the BMI index chart is bulllshit. It's outdated, I would know because my biology teacher pulled one out last semester and I asked her why she was using it because it was proven to be wrong in many studies, and I told her that it may morph ones self image, which is true.. needless to say we didn't have to hand that work back in!

  • Well, actually 15% is athlete's BMI, so it's not that low.

  • that is low isn't 18 % "normal" for an athlete, unless your a contortionist or a swimmer.. or a ballet dancer but even then..

  • im a contortionist, but im muscular, not super skinny, but alot of contortionists are really skinny and usually not muscular so i guess im the exception~erica

  • My BMI is 15.82. (I just calculated it.) I've never been on a diet and I eat plenty of junk food. Does this seriously mean I'm "technically" anorexic???

    I think I'm going to go cry now. ;___;

  • no, anorexia is a mental disorder...it just means you're underweight.

  • exactly, anorexia is the desire or need to take the weight off or keep off no matter how you do it.. it's hard to explain

  • It just means your underweight, especially since the BMI chart is out dated.

  • It is very possible to gain 6 lbs in 4 days, especially given discrepancies in scale accuracy. Water weight and meals can have a significant factor in body weight.

The Diet Clinic clerk asking a question about the worth of a diet pill is to test the patient's commitment about losing weight. She is doing her job by appealing to the minority of people who have a dysmorphic personality. Neither of the two suggested anything outside of the norm.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm pretty sure it's normal for kids to be way out of the range of BMI. It's only accurate once you reach your full (adult) height.

  • "What the crap" ?

  • What a neat experiment!!

  • This was a great experiment. I congratulate you for doing your own research like that.

  • this is brilliant, and you are beautiful at your weight and have a brilliant mind set, very inspiring person x x x

  • This is just 1 place. I remember going to Jenny Craig with my mom a while back, and they mistook me for the person having the appointment for a sec, and they made it pretty clear that I did not need to lose weight. I don't know what would have happened if I were really there to try to lose weight and had an actual appointment, but I don't think it would have gone like this..

  • I know this was a year ago Kat, but it's too bad that you didn't do this "undercover"!!!

  • It is normal to have you weight flux by 5-10 lbs on the scale by water weight lbs caused by activity, hormones, sodium intake, carbohydrate intake and hydration.

I do wonder if they would actually do it though (let you keep going)

  • Whoops the rest of my comment was cut off. Regardless of appearances on the video, I'm glad you know that you aren't overweight by any stretch of the imagination and it's truly sketchy that they'd let you lose more weight...weird.

  • who the fuck do u think you are saying this!!!! she is beautiful the way she is, you sick horrible person, you do not say this to someone who has had an ed. fuck u!

  • TKO... she was wearing a regular shirt and jeans, just like at the doctor.. you can see on the interview... they were willing to let her go down to a BMI of 16... which is clinically anorexic. if she were supposed to be a dietician and/or physical trainer, she should know that, or at least a general idea.

i think part of the industrys problem are people who arent qualified to be working in the field helping people.. My cousin for example weighs like 100 lbs, 5'6... yet shes advising people.

  • good video!!!!

  • I used to work in a Curves....we were pushed to encourage everyone to lose weight regardless of how skinny they were...young women were the worst, they were so unrealistic with how they wanted to look.

I tried to discourage the ones I thought had an unhealthy body image even if I lost the "sale".

  • I went for an interview at Curves a couple of years ago and I recall them telling me to say what you said above. I also recall them telling me that "If" I was to work there, I would have to advise clients that if they stopped losing or gained they would be warned and/or asked what their goals are and/or not to come back if they continues to gain!!! (I chose not to take the job!!!)

  • This is non-conclusive. I can't really say the clinic was crooked because the lady said that you probably didn't want to go to 105 that along the way you would probably see that you didnt need to get to l05. Also as far as the six pounds are concerned. DID YOU see the scale? Did the scale say 134.6? You had on a hoodie? Jeans? I dont rememebr but clothes have weight. So does bloating

I would need more information in order to conclude

    -TKO

  • it's so awesome there are people out there like you that tell the truth cause that really is all those fuckers care about

and i think i've seen you in some videos before when you were anorexic(i dunno was that you but looked kinda like you so sorry if it wasn't)

    i'm glad you recovered:)

  • You are courageous and brilliant, Kat!

  • BMI isn't necessarily the best way for measuring health though.

  • wow diet clinics are fucked, whats your hieght?

  • Brilliant! Absolutely disgusting what those people do. I wish you could make this a full-length documentary.

  • This is brilliant, thankyou for making this.

  • Great message! Sadly, I was at the 2nd percentile at my worst.

  • this is amazing! and so wonderful what you did. i really didn't know diet clinics where like that...

    scary, really scary
