You're comparing the English lyrics to the German lyrics, and they actually different meanings.

In the German lyrics 'lass mich nicht im stich' actually literally translates into 'don't leave me in the sting'. I don't think that's an English expression, so a better way to word it would be 'don't abandon me'.

I know of course,the german lyrics are really different from the ones by the english song..and I always prefer the german songs,they have deeper lyrics :)
