I will never be clear how the general Nadal can beat Federer! Nadal plays as poorly programmed robot! Federer is much better than him but could not beat him ... I hope that Federer will be the best in 2012! Forward Roger you're the best!
@Blackmore35 well what i have noticed from the australian open 2012 is that federer doesnt want to play to a simple plan to nadal. ive noticed a trend in the aussie open and looked back on this match and ive seen the same mistakes. nadal uses the same old boring game to beat federer. when i compare federer to djokovic ive noticed federers crosscourt forehand is more vicious. federer needs to hit crosscourt forehands deep to nadals backhand and he will have more control of points.
@Blackmore35 federer doesnt seem to want to keep doing that plan because he is a genius and finds it boring. thats why the losses keep coming against nadal. federer has to stick to that so boring plan to beat nadal. he can play his regular game to beat djokovic and the rest. but that tactic of the crosscourt forehand deep to nadals backhand will give nadal more trouble. that is what djokovic has been doing to beat nadal. djokovics forehand is not vicious as feds but djok has his backhand to help
What is it with Federer winning the opening set and still losing the match against Nadal? I think he relaxes too much, maybe relying too much on the lead. Or maybe it just takes a lot out of him to win one set, and then it's hard to get back up, mentally and emotionally, for the following set?
To All who watch this video... this is the Madrid Open. A very POOR ORGANIZED event, where they change games and player to their convinience even if you paid to watch them, you just have to go and watch a dobble instead of what you paid for and you don´t get your money back. In other words... Madrid OPen... in the crap Caja Mágica... INEFFICIENT, EXPENSIVE, DISORGANIZED AND ATHIEVES!!!!!
@joejohn1423 Me and more than a hundred people who bought the fucking tickets to watch the women´s and men´s semifinals and they changed the schedule at their convinience and we were all screwed. How would you like to pay almost 400 euros to watch the semis, you get to watch games you didn´t pay for and women´s double?. Then they sold the tickets for the semifinals to get more money when they changed the schedule. Fuck Madrid Open!
@socratesbio 1) Are you saying Nadal doesn't have talent? Just because he plays with loads of topspin, doesn't slice as much and doesn't have a pretty one handed backhand doesn't mean he's less talented.. keep in mind he has a 18-9 record against Fed. 2) Nadal wins
@explodingpimp no, disagree... first of all I'm a big fan of both of them and their rivalry and of course I believe Rafa is talented! But not as much as Federer who's got bigger variety of shots and, generaly, is a more completed player than Rafa... Rafa is winning their matches much more because of his brute, and his talent, but remains less talented than Federer... well, ok, no further analysis..!!! :P
Neither of them are not as good players as before, as when from 2006 to 2008 played every Wimbledon final and final of Roland Garros and AO 2009 final. I miss this rivalry ...
i was surprised when i discovered that nadal has a winning record over fed outdoors of clay(7-5),that covers the theory shit that fed is better than rafa on hardcourt and grass(1-2 to fed but nadal was just a "clay courter") outdoors.take away the meaningless wtf head to head 0-4 for fed,he has only beaten rafa 5 times during the real season
@ciaranselva why is WTF meaningless... it shows who can maintain their health and fitness til the end of the year... fed is better on faster surfaces, nadal slower
@ciaranselva federer leads 5-4 on hardcourts and 2-1 on grass. Federer's game means he can play at a high standard, uninjured for the year's entirity whereas nadal generally is exhausted post US open. To say the WTF's is meaningless shows just how little you know about tennis as it is often called the 5th slam and is an extremely prestigious event. The reason the head to head favours nadal so much is because of their many clay matches 12-2.
@ciaranselva Im assuming you say WTF is meaningless as rafa has a pretty bad record there for such a great of the game with a 9-10 record whereas feds has won it a record 6 times. Apart from in 2010 federer has comfortably beaten rafa at the WTF's and perhaps if they had played as many times as they had on clay with indoor federer would be ahead in the rivalry.
@ciaranselva your soooooo right, and really the only time federer has beaten nadal on clay was when nadal was tired, and he only ever beat him at wimbledon when nadal wasn't in his 'prime'. at miami in 05, nadal should have won, so that is technically a win for nadal, so when you really analyse their H2H, it's 26-0 to nadal. Wow, your a visionary
@diegogbr1 Every player at the WTF's commented on the courts slowness and coincidentally madrid this year was not only the fastest clay court this season but one of the fastest in the whole tour! They keep tampering with it and havent got it right in terms of how a clay court should play but its only been a clay court for 3 years and they may even introduce blue clay for it :(
@TennisCoachno1 thanks for that info. I know there are some clay courts that are really fast.
Tennis is such a difficult sport. Playing it in different surfaces makes it even harder. And of course there are hundred more factors that influence...
man rafa returns are so short, even federer in leaning into his 1 hander and pumping them down the line,he has to look into this rafa or players will use this and succeed
Federer won't retire just like that. He needs a good reason to to out. He is still a force to reckon with. No one plays tennis like him. Even the Joker is not as good as him, it is just that the Joker is young and that makes the marginal difference among top players, it is just a bit that makes those important changes.
@27Kidful - He deffinately has not said that, why shud he, not so long ago he did what Rafa has failed to do on all 5 occassions this year and beat the best player in the world atm djokovic to reach the final at RG on what is supposed to be his worst surface, i wudn't call that time to retire, yes he had a disappointing wimbledon but still quarter-final of a slam is an a disaster, there'll deffinately be more opportunities to win more slams in the future, he'll be a massive threat at the open.
Tennis is in large parts truly one wicked mind game. Just one week away from the French Open Nadal has gotten one nasty nemesis - Mr.Djokovic - BIG on his nerves. Already he's lost 4 finals in a row, oops! EVEN on his master surface in succession! Now there’s an ‘ugly’ writing on the wall, says Nadal's 'heartbreak' might be far from over. I’m looking forward to watch all drama, there'll be 'blood on sand' at RG + all NAD- & DJO-tards will rage over wins & losses & meanings… sounds exciting !!
There is a basic problem with Federer. He ruturns the ball to the center of the opponent's court often & that makes it easy for Nadal or any player to hammer forehand shots across the left or right corner. It seems OK to it while playing with lower ranked players but for those on top, it is pointless returning that way.
@65alphonso nadal looks slower compared to last year, signs that he is dropping. Federer don't have physical to a play longer match like 3 and 4 sets, always best on 1st set. Now djokovic has strongest physical shape. Its interesting, federer can beat nadal last time on clay if he had a 2 handed flat backhand like djokovic.
Federer can't contend with Nadal unless he has 2 hands on his racquet on the backhand side. The 1 handed backhand breaks down from the consistent and constant abuse dished out by Nadal's massively powerful heavy lefty spin forehands.
The Djokovic backhand on the other hand is so incredibly solid, Nadal can do nothing against it. Hence why Nadal has crumbled from the Djokovic assault 4 times in a row now in finals. Twice in a row on hardcourts and now twice in a row on Nadal's beloved clay.
S&V worked really well for fed and he made some nice returns as well. I think he needs to keep working on that style, not giving nadal any time to get in the rally. But to keep that up 4,5 sets back to back is almost impossible.
2:34 Good game from Federer. F***s with Nadal.
