I think it is easier to sit here and bitch abt the music and muscians . Some times we have to enjoy the music rather than picking on the pronunciation and words . As long as the song is melodious we shouldnt sit here and whinge. Only very few muscians are masters at every thing like Dr Bala murali.

I was expecting more from Nityashree after hearing her Aachaaravillada Nalige by Purandaradasuru in Kannada....language is not a barrier, but they need to make it perfect, atleast get it corrected with some of the exponents/writers from same language.. I have heard Vanijayaram though famous in movies, whenever she sings for other languages, she sits with the writers or any other who can correct her for correct pronunciations & dialect, prepares herself to give the best & due respect/ credit.

the singers at olden days are really great. But she is now a days singer who performing well and going in depth . Comparison should not be there among them. Different styles are adopted by them. More over her mother tongue is Tamil and top of it she is able to the sing the master piece - song means it is really wonderful and keeping the audience in live and happy.

. Experimentation always required to have different dimension. Some green eye people cannot digest her performance.

My god. I normally avoid Nithyashree - too much experimentaiton and a shrill voice that makes me reach for my earplugs. This time I made the mistake of clicking this after listening to MLV and then Vedavalli renditions of the same song. Never again.

Very good rendition . Next only to Pandit Bhim SEn Joshi. Very lively. It  is apt that it is sung in Carnatic style since it was written by father of carnatic music sri Purandara dasa. Bhim sen 's was better because he is a unmatched musician.

It should be noted that the tamil singer going for a kannda clasic ..how you can call it murdring a language ..just because she has pronounced some words in a different way.

kunkumankite pankaj lochane is corect only when adressing SriLaxmi But here she has adressed kunkumankit pankaj lochan Venkatram..in a way she is also correct ..in both way its correct ..It was nice to here sucha lovely voice

She is singing in language which is not her mothertongue, still singing very well. I don't think Laxmi amma minds.

I agree with vgdarur. But at least this is way better than Sudha Raghunathan and those really Tamilian style versions. Bhimsen Joshi's of course is unmatched. Bhimanna is Kannadiga and his style much more of a natural fit for this song or any Kannada songs for that matter.

maybe yes. but Bhimsen sings in hindustani, whereas Nithyasree and even Purandardas himself sang this song in carnatic. so you can't really judge them both. anyway i agree with you that bhimsen's rendition is very emotional.

This is the Hindustani morning raga Bhibhas which Pt Bhimsen Joshi used to transform the well known dasara pada into a masterpiece.

Her pronunciation is quite good, mahapraNas are rendered correctly! Some errors are still there. In the second charaNa it should be the feminine "kumkumankite pankajalochane" not the way she sings it, without the two Es at the end.

Nithyasreeji is a GENIUS! I really, really enjoy both her's and Bhimsenji's style of singing Bhagyada Lakshmi Baarammaa. What I especially love about Nithyasree's style in this performance is her clear pronunciation, the tempo she maintained, and the bhava she brought out. Not only does she excel in singing Tamil Carnatic songs, she also shines in singing songs in other languages, as is proven by this performance of hers! :-)
