I've tried those positions, but I have a hard time raising the rifle. My target was a little bit highter than me, and I could not bring the rifle that high withouth losing stabillity. I bring my legs so close to me that I feel like I'm gonna roll backwards....
Anyway the positions are good, as long as you are higher than the target.
the sitting down 1 i did with out thinking but the army sed no and made me do it all shit the way they made me do it if using a large size round u would roly poly backwards couse u have no suport
@Paulius1981 Do you shoot field target though? field target requires an extreme amount of discipline to be successful. Hunting is one thing, but when it comes to serious competition, you need every bit of stability you can get.
for the sitting posistions they work great....but my back gets pretty soar leaning in to see through the scope...now ive seen a variation a few times where instead of having both feet out like that they cross them, now ive tried that...my back feels alot better that way...a little wobly but what i want to know is it effective....is there any draw back.? im sort of a begeiner shooter and im not too sure about it.
oo and uh i saw another variation im not to sure about....just like the cross legged one but the knee thats on the butt side of the gun is on the floor...with the back arm hanging
Dear Sir, thank you! This is a must-watch for pretty much everyone who want a proper, steady and solid stance. Tried this out with my rifles and I must say the improvement is noticeable.
we'll everybody has thier own shooting positions....when i sit im completly hunged over almost curled into a ball lol...i have to hold the gun at about a 30 degrees slant in order to get steady in this position..hey but it works for me
I tried the sitting position after I saw this. It really does work, it really stops the wobble compared to how he first did it. I could imagine FT / HFT being really awquard. I don't see how you don't know the range of the target, plus can get the shot into a tiny hole, a maximum size of 45mm, plus wind. I could imagine it being really enjoyable, & would love to try it out myself though, although it really marvels me.
LOl, I've just realised that 45mm is actually quite big, bigger than my gamo rat anyway. Any smaller than that, at different ranges & wind would be a problem :D
I zero mine about every 2 weeks, on a nice day with no wind. If you clamp the rifle into a Black & Decker workbench, so when cocking the gun doesn't move. Fire at a piece of paper & look through the scope to see how far off the shot is, then alter the turrets. It's very accurate, bus this method is PCP only. Occasionally, I just do it prone in the field.
TD really knows his stuff & there was alot of good advice in that video. I'm a member of the airgunbbs of which he is the head administrator & I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys shooting. I have alot of time for Terry Doe, he really knows his stuff & he isn't arrogant either which further reinforces his knowledge & expertise. A true professional.
Amazing video. Ever thought about writing a book?

I'm quite short with a fairly long rifle, I struggle with both positions! Lying on my stomach seems to be the only way that works. Annoyingly.

I use that first position and am a very accurate shot. The second sat position just isnt realisitic for alot of people. You cant even see propley!

I hate to say it, but the only 'correct' way is the way that's most comfortable and easiest for you.
I shoot like the guy does at the start of this video (in the 'wrong' position) and it works perfectly for me.

Ive tried these positions they work well but by far the best thing to do is to throw a bipod on their.
samGproductions 2 years ago
You can't use a bipod in Field Target. These are Field Target shooting positions

why even use the knee position. it hurts so much! lol
Migs4000 3 years ago 2
because in field target some lanes you have to kneel
ascoughc 3 years ago
i was jking dude lol.....i mean kneeling is aslright once you get into postition, i just don't like doing it ^_^

Complete rubbish anybody in their right might would NOT shoot and would be killing animals humanely, but why kill them in the first place?

Well thought out, and well written response. Did you actually watch the video?
Nice video, answered a few of the questions I had around shooting positions.
Thanks
Kamen6b 3 years ago
'FT shooting' stands for field target shooting. That's not hunting.
Very useful video. thanks for posting.

he dousn't tell that in the 2nd position it's hard to control recoil correction
marcisgreatAA 3 years ago
No recoil from a Falcon pcp air rifle.
icsp2 3 years ago 3
icsp2, always a bit, at least from pulling the trigger, but pcp action gives no recoil that right.
marcisgreatAA 3 years ago
He says it's a great position to zero from too, but I use prone, a lot more steady & accurate.
Konstanz2233 3 years ago
i always sit on a chair with my elbows on the table to zero from, just my back yard :P

I thought the sitting position is the only one you can't use in field target competition. You need to have some part of your body touching the peg.
cujomojo2007 4 years ago 2
That's HFT, not FT.
