  • wonderful guitar player and musician, he surely has got total control over the musical notes and their endless possibilities. If you'd like to watch another guitar piece by John Etheridge you can find it on my channel, its a live performance I filmed in São Paulo very recently.

  • sounds like Dullah Ibrahim

  • good job! but this is more than makossa it 's jazz- makossa.Your knowledge of guitar is above that of an average makossa player like me.

  • where can I get the tab for this piece???????????

  • wheres the tab??

  • Makossa is a dance: check out Paul Simon's "the Coast" from his "Rhythm of the Saints" album to have an idea how it sounds. As played here, it cannot be danced because it does not fit in 5/4 normal West African signature key. John Williams version is close to what the african composer[Francis Bebey] had in mind.

  • Indeed. But isn't Etheridge playing on Williams 'Magic Box' the version I believe you are talking about?

  • Yes you are right. Even John Williams version isn't all that convincing, because a dance should make you want to "shake" some part of your body. It is played as a classical piece by the greatest guitar master. Maybe I'm unfit to comment of these anyway...

  • Fantastic, a great live show too

  • wonderfull

    5*

  • Lovely

  • That's very nice! Thank you, norfolk!
