Looks tasty, but as chili is not soup, and you called it a "soup" several times, you should not do chili the dishonor of calling it a soup. Also I have been taught to cook the onions and then add garlic, as garlic cooks very fast. But to each his own.

I will be making this soon, but instead of cream I'll be mashing up my northern beans to add to the thickness instead.
I also plan on using cilantro and maybe oregano. I don't think cheese would hurt either...
