  • What is the purpose of the paver looking stone that you scrape on the chert with?

  • @GunDoc39402 The edge is sharp and not strong. You abrade or grind the edge to make it more solid. If you do not grind it, the edge will crunch and create problems you can not fix. thanks for the question.

  • @OCoptimusconvoy I just buy stuff i know will work good. there are many web sites you can buy stuff from. just search for flint knapping threw ebay or google.

  • Thankyou so much for spending the time to make this. It demonstrates extremely well the tools and technique. I have almost everything I need to have a try at this. The only problem is Australia has virtually no suitable rocks!

  • @admacdo2009 if you watch ebay under the search knapping or black obsidian you can find cheap rock that is great to practice on. thanks

  • @admacdo2009 using glass can also be a great way to practice!

  • @admacdo2009 i'm not sure of the quality but we have a lot of flint along various beaches in victoria. I did collect some and played around with knapping for a while. It seemed to work ok but I'm not expert.
