omg ... this was the song that turned me to the 'Dark Side'....haha..my big "bro" back in the early 70's..like way early....said lil Bro listen to this!...holy shit....fuck country!...hahaha.....ummm it done grabbed me....im a hard Rockn-Blues Guitarist thanks to my Big Bro...i So Love Him!......thanks Tony!
I remember this song from my first school dance in junior high :)
The rythm was so powerful that I got out on the floor even though -- and even by that bygone days very low standards -- I couldn't dance. I tried. So did the poor soul who danced with me. Neither of us suspected the song was sooooooooooooooo long! About six minutes in, people around us were laughing hysterically at us and we slunk away...to make out under the bleachers..Good tune!
I don't know about best drum solo ever but it was the first one I heard on a studio album. Check out old version of T.N.U.C.by GFR at the alledged Atlanta Pop Festival 1970. I do belive it was really recorded in Florida a month later. Anyway, it Kicks Ass !!!
I didn't even know this song had a long version until I bought the album right after it came out and this song took up one whole side. Now I'd rather listen to this long version. Nobody quite like the original members--Doug Ingle – vocals, keyboards ;Danny Weis – guitar; Greg Willis – bass; and
Jack Pinney – drums (LOVE his drum solo about the 7 min. mark). TWO THUMBS WAY UP!! And, thank you, for no breaks in it. =)
the song lyrics were originally written as " In the garden of eden baby "... but after everyone interpreted the lyrics to be In A Gadda Da Vida, the band changed the original lyrics to the later, making that the official finish.
@RonSafreed Of course not. Especially true of rap and hip-hop. Aim low and expect nothing is their motto. I still have my Iron Butterfly record from '68. None of today's rap and hip-hop so called artists have an ounce of talent. Just a shame how the music industry has brought the music world to such depths of mediocrity.
Absolutely great posting... what a trip! Takes me back 45 years. For some reason the 'Star Gate' sequence near the end of "2001: A Space Odyssey" keeps floating through my mind... and the walls... and the ceiling... and anything else in my office which, at the moment, is moving.
This has to be one of the best pieces of music ever written, maybe not the best but close. It is a classic. This matches any song by Zeppelin , or Floyd or the Beatles or anyone
Eric Braunn passed away back in 2003. He had tried to put the group back together, but like a lot of old bands, they refused to record. There are some songs of his on the internet. I found a website out there as well with lots of info.
wow I am blown away floks music at its best.. I happen to see this group in 2001 the were playing for a motorcycle stsore in Ft Worth Tx on the west side. I just happen to run in to them while I was driving home. The drummer and one more person were the orgnials guy''s left. He did the drum solo man he kick on it. I got to talk to him at the end of the gig.. I told him you kick ass man. He said thanks man glad you guys like it and he said I am getting to dam old for this this..lol
dan. been a long time since 1968 or lsd or doin light shows with oils, food colorings, and ovr-head projectors. video did exist but only my romie had the 15,000 for an outfit and the tape reels were 3 inches wide then...
Dam! I forgot all about these guys! No wonder so many of the kids I went to school with smoked pot and dropped acid! I remember kids playing this on their desks at school.
They were a San Diego band at one point and there was a weekend or two when if you wanted to listen to AM radio you sat through several playings of the full version. Radio stations really ruined this song for us (and at the same time ruined their own gig by forcing us to come to grips with the superiority of buying albums).
@cliffwalkinfool ...Cliff, I lived in San Diego when this band was put together..AM stations usually would play songs no longer than 3 minutes...But...this was a time when FM stations were springing up all over the country and would play long versions of "Underground" music, as we called most of hard rock long version songs back then.Pop Music was starting the switch to FM from AM. ...Peace !
BRAVO!! BRAVO!!! What a great video for a one of a kind song. We DESTROYED the speakers of my parent's HiFi Stereo with the song on new years eve!!! Too bad they don't make them like this anymore.

@eyeque195 Very cool! I will have to swing by and check it out (I get to Dallas fairly often)...The guitar on the album cover appears to be a sunburst Mosrite, but it is entirely possible this red one was used for the recording...
Classic hard rock. One of my favorites. Todays music is CRAP. Eg. take the song JAY Z wrote for his new baby and then listen to what Stevie Wonder wrote for his baby.

He was picked up for the tour as lead guitarist when they headlined with Led Zep. Page used to come out and join him during the long jam and one night Mike heard Page on his left, but soon a third guitarist joined them on stage. Mike opened his eyes and found JImmy Hendrix!
