Also, a version exists in Castlevania: Bloodlines for the Mega Drive/Genesis (even though Simon is nowhere to be found in the game), but this still reigns supreme.

you should try the japanese version instead (titled 'Akumajou Dracula')

for the following reasons:

-no slowdowns

-harder difficulty(same as 2nd playthrough on US version)

-chain whip sound is different

-much better font, no kidding

-more colorful logo, with blood dripping

-menus are in english.
