I can only imagine what it takes to after doing what you described get up to speed again. The way his body moved, the mental and body stress he must have had..190mph to 20mph that is a lot of G-force..
look at 1:41 when he comes flying into the chicane and the car twiches left and right,,,,easily , easily anyone else with less skill could have just lost it, Iive seen it many times, Senna's lighting fast reflexes is still unmatched......that is fucking scaring at 200mph and slamming on the brakes like he does and he didn't even think twice about it, I wonder how it would feel to know your such a bad ass like he knew he was!
He didnt think about it,thats the point;he didnt have time to... But he knew very well that that the car was going to step out on him under braking into the chicane...
amazing how he could change gears and still make the card do what he wanted it to do. Compared to the drivers of today, the steering wheel has changed to a point where the steering wheels of today are just so complex they cake the other wheels look so lame.
Senna was the king of qualifying. This car had a 6 speed box and was the best car of its days, they only modified the car for 3 seasons in a row from 1988 to 1991
Yes 6 speeds, Honda NA 10 cylnder engine, flat bottom with primative aero that would generate alot of DF but would catch alot of drivers out over bumps when the aero wasn't going through the wind just right - another aspect to Senna that made him what he was - his sensativety to the car and ability to just KNOW how to react and actualy induce moments of oversteer while dancing on the throttle to get the car turned in at a fractionaly higher speed than anyone else. He used less brake pedal.
THE SENNA was spine chilling everywhere - I saw him 3 times in qualifying and it was like watching a nuclear bomb - awe/shock/and respect. (Ive seen Schumi too and he was a cut above the rest - but The Senna was frightening - really on a level so advanced it needs all your efforts to even comprehend-basically - the guy was bending physics (Of course thats not possible - but it means he was going so close to the edge it showed how far below the limit the rest of them were.
The spirit, skill and the human touch of Ayrton Senna should be an inspiration to all of us. He is, was, and always will be simply the best, and not only in F1.
hairpin is at 0:58 for those who don't know...

The way he exits the hairpin is simply amazing
he's changing gears while steering the car with one hand and the way he navigated spoon corner.

goodness me, in the last corner, the chicane, he dropped speed down from 190mph to 20mph in zero seconds, unbelievable!

NO! its a V10 3.5 liter. Honda Marlboro McLaren team 1989. The only ones with V12 were the Ferraris...

Sorry to let you all down, but the engine is V12, not V10.. I miss Senna too. The greatest driver and a person.

This is a great video...love the sound of the V10 engine.
It's a shame that a racing accident claimed one of the greatest Formula One drivers in modern day Formula One.
Ayrton Senna may no longer be with us, but he certianly will never be forgotten.

Noise of this Honda engine is a real music.

It seems a 6 speed gearbox, or maybe 7?

All hail the Supreme Ace Ayrton Senna - so far above all others it can't even be put into words. No-one else could even dream of driving like this.
Schumi? Shame on you for even thinking he compares!
Senna - from another dimension entirely!
