one really needs to see the show to get all the hilariousness, outrageousness, ..., all of it - to appreciate all the parts as well as the whole
music is mostly a very clever send up of 'king and i' and some other tunes (that have been 'asking' for a very long time to be sent up) - visual sides of it make it a really unbelievable show
the visual illustration of dysentery in this song is just a tiny sequence in 'the flow" that makes one (most literally so) crying form laughter all the way through
@cbgflygirl i'm mormon too and we have same reaction! So many swear words! But I still wanna see the show coz i heard its hood.. Except this song! I like the song turn it off! Listen to it! :))
@TwilightAdiktus Sorry, but as a non-mormon, is that really how you lot handle the tough questions in life? Do you just compartmentalize those aspects of yourselves that your religion doesn't agree with until your prophet says it's ok?
@photolitherland Mormonism is anything but made up. Yes, I may have been born into the church and member all my life. But I have a testimony of the gosepel that I had to find out on my own. And nothing you can say will change that. I stand by my statement of this is unexceptable.
@cbgflygirl This song isn't really mocking the religion. The key is that the actual story of mormons was explained in All American Prophet and then in Making Things up again one of the characters has to make up lines from the book on the fly to make them more relevant and prevent medicinal pedophilia. Naturally this causes the villagers to get the entire story mixed up, this is the result. If they wanted to straight up insult the faith trust me they can easily do worse.
If you hear it without hearing "Make Things Up Again", it would piss a lot of people off. And some people don't, so they are offended by the fuck frog.
@cbgflygirl Like other people have said, listen to other songs/see the musical. Out of context it sounds really bad but in context it actually makes a lot of sense and is quite funny :L I promise the musical isn't as offensive to Mormons as it sounds . . . it just takes the micky. It is actually quite fairly supportive of Mormonism. Promise :)
@cbgflygirl This song sounds really offensive out of context. Try listening to "Joseph Smith American Prophet" and "Making Things Up Again" then come back.
@bangbangdead3773 Yeah its not picking on joseph smith and brigham. But the myths they are talking about are modern ones in africa. Rapeing virgins(babies) is happening in africa. I don't know about the frog or someone getting a clit on their face. Its still aint as bad as telling people if they masterbate, they will loose their vision. Missions have been known to go bad from time to time. bad priesthood concepts and bad beliefs. its ideal here.
@bangbangdead3773 Ha! Yes, having listened to them, this isn't offensive anymore! "Joseph Smith, magical AIDS frog! Brigham Young, frog on his clit-face" :D
Joseph Smith fuck frog!
Brigham Young clit face!

@cbgflygirl why do you keep on saying unexceptable? I'm not even american but at least I know it's "unacceptable".

Holy shit, it's a nod to 'The King and I' ('The Small House of Uncle Thomas') too, isn't it? Brilliant.
(And, crikey, SO good as a critique of how religions are palimpsests, adapting their stories to address the issues of potential converts.)
