First of all unless the cats are too open an exhaust won't trigger a CEL. 2nd of all an exhaust doesn't require a retune on a STOCK car. 3rd I bet the reason the CEL was because that was a beta test of the exhaust and they didn't put the oxygen sensors back in yet.

Exhausts dont really need a tune - they just reveal the cars fueling strategy more than anything else all OEM Turbo cars run pig rich..

The CEL is not exhaust related.

@dmitriyo Exhausts do need a tune. You're right that OEM cars run rich as it is, but the addition of TURBOBACK exhaust without a tune will cause it to run more rich. There has to be an advance in timing to compensate for the better airflow, hence the power gains.

It's also very possible that your CEL is exhaust related.

@bedcap CEL is indicating that there is not a catalytic converter, the flames are just the way the genesis is tuned. It's tuned quite rich so it's very common to backfire pop and to shoot some flames because of excess fuel.

The CEL is due to cp-e doing RnD for an engine management solution for the vehicle. We have tapped some wires and something tripped at the time of filming.. no tuning was done however.

And this exhaust sounds really great. I'm surprised how good it sounds; better than the Evo X IMO. I've been looking around for Evo X exhausts and this sounds better than any of the ones I've heard; including the exhaust by Cp-e.

This system is a turboback so it replaces the factory cats. Thats why it sounds more aggressive than a standard catback exhaust. A CP-E turboback on an Evo X would sound very similar to this.
