It's hard to understan why in Russia today, there are lots of people who wants to be buddhists, hinduists or warlocks(язычество), with such beautiful songs.
If they want something ascethic, Orthodoxy is very ascethic.
Absolute beauty... This is beyond humbling. This is perfection... Nothing can surpass the beauty of Harmonized Music of this Caliber.Thank you for posting.
Only when Peter the Great visited Holland in 1697 and copied shipbuilding, architecture and other Dutch goodies, Russia became more western. Peter even copied the Dutch flagg as the national flag of Russia, but he changed the red lane from the top to the bottem.
I am an Orthodox but I can only imagine how it would feel to listen to him live cause i didn't had the chance. that is what I meant.I go almost every Sunday to a monk monastery so I know how it feels.cheers
The basso profondo singer's name correctly: Yuri Wichniakov (Jurij Vishnjakov or Vishnyakov), not Victor or Viktor, that's INCORRECT!!! See "Basso Profondo from Old Russia - Popular & Sacred Russian Songs" CD (1999) Soloist: Yuri Wichniakov... See also Wikipedia
At 2:44 you can hear the lowest note that man ever singed.

Corvusdotensis 5 months ago 3
@Corvusdotensis It is a painting called "Protodeacon" by Ilya Repin. But I don't know the name of the protodeacon...
gudpeder 5 months ago
@gudpeder probably he is a protodeacon Ivan Ulanov from Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv Oblast (province) of eastern Ukraine

@Swordman85 It takes more than songs to influence someone's spirituality. It depends on their brains, really.
I don't believe in God, but this is beautiful. Wonderful music that is inspired is my religion and faith.

@Swordman85 You're kidding, right? Please don't discuss Justin Bieber in the comment section of a video that has nothing to do with him.
