Thank you so much for uploading some Lucky Ron! I lived in Ottawa in 1992 (way pre-YouTube) and went to see Lucky Ron every week at the Downstairs Cub. Then we'd go to the Laff for the rest of the afternoon (and sometimes on into the evening). When they closed the Downstairs Club, Ron cut up the stage and sold it off. My buddy Pete bought me a piece as a going away present. I've lived in Vancouver ever since and miss those Lucky Ron afternoons. No idea where that dirty piece of stage is.
Sorry that was your first impression. He is actually a super nice guy, and a fantastic musician. Pop into the Laff on a Saturday afternoon, now that's his element. He's a local legend, man. Caveat being if you don't drink, don't go.
@Beaversen Oh he's definitely an excellent guitar player. He just really did an inappropriate intro at this anniversary though. I'm not exaggerating, he came on and bragged about himself for 15 minutes. "I've played here, had these records produced, toured with this guy, been featured on TV, etc"
It would be different if someone else had introduced him saying those things, I could understand that. But it really turned off the humble country folk hearing this guy brag about himself.
I saw Ron again yesterday for the first time since about '92, as well. The show was awsome and Ron and Kathleen are still super-nice people.
