  • MAIL WITH THE FORM—

    • The filing fee, in the form of a check or money order (no cash) payable to Register of Copyrights, and

    • One or two copies of the work. If the work is unpublished, send one

copy, tape, or CD. If published, send two copies of the best published

edition if the work is in printed form, such as sheet music, or one

copy of the best published edition if the work is recorded on a tape or

    disk.

Note: Inquire about special requirements for works first published

  • @CTROCK -what do they mean ( one or two copies of the work? does it mean u only can put two of your song on a cd? when i call they said u can put as much song on the 2 cd.

  • step3 - it said 2 copies of your music on CD? u mean u can put only 2 song on a CD? it did said the same thing on the PA form but when I call and ask them that question both different people told me u can put as much of your music on the 2 CD! thanks

  • they have the long PA form and the short PA form.the long PA form u can fill out the information on-line but the short PA form u can't i try but won't let me fill out on the short PA form on-line why? thanks

  • how many song can u copy on a cd to get copyright? i am useing form PA? thanks

  • does this work in the uk ?

  • i just have lyrics that i wrote,...can i just send lyrics

  • id like to see you try to play even the simplest of beats. drumming is not easy and it is probably one of the more difficult instruments to play. there have actually been studies that show that people who have greater ability in percussion tend to have higher IQ levels (something you probably dont have).

  • do u send the lyrics in after you register online cause in dong it online

  • Great info well detailed, thanks.

  • can you send more than one song on a cd to have copyrighted?

Or do you have to send one song at a time?

  • Can you copyright a rough draft of a beat as long as the melody is there or does it need to be mixed & mastered completely before going for a copyright?

  • so id i want to copyright my beats whoch one should i choose?

  • I had the hardest time finding the correct information. Thanks so much for your

helpful information. Finally, someone that knows what they are talking about!

    Thanks a hundred times!

  • thanks so much! Very helpful!!

  • Fantastic! it's a great pity that there aren't more people like you, with the precious ability to decipher government website gobbledeegook. Big thumbs up! thank you!

  • copyright destroys creativity.

  • @Marsiblu then use linux newb

  • @Marsiblu how?

  • @Marsiblu wtf are you talking about!?!?

  • THANKS MANE YOU REALLY HELPED ME

  • you can put all your songs onto one CD and copyright all your songs for 45

  • is it just $45 for copyrighting an album OR is it $45 for copyrighting a single? i dont wanna keep paying $45 to copyright every song..

  • Thank You!

  • would this process work for spanish music? Please I would like to know

  • so easy guys it works!

  • You know I hate to bring this up, but when you have copyrights in place and there violated and in my case I am working with the enforcement division of the copyrights office and since its a violation of federal law, reported to the FBI. But copyrights enforcement is a tedious process and you have to contact the attorney generals office of the state in which the perpetrator lives and provide prosecutors evidence. You should mention enforcement too.

  • When I registered my collection, I did using the PA online form. That was in the beta testing in 2008. One important thing you left out is that they assign a 10 digit case number when you finish uploading your deposits and that it takes about 4 months to get the certificate of copyright. the effective date of registration is the day the Copyright Office receives a complete submission and assigns the 10 digit case number.

  • kinda dissappointed you did not point mention how much more easier it is by registering online eCO and making upload deposits. Also you breifly skirted over an important detail in 7:04 and rather you want to anonymous are us a pseudonym. I wish you would have mentioned how much easier it was to just upload deposits as they refer to them and register online with eCO eCO has improved since I first registered in 2008. Your video is good but it is so much easier to register online with eCO.

  • @ItsMsMargie is it just $45 for copyrighting an album OR is it $45 for copyrighting a single song? i dont wanna keep paying $45 to copyright every single song lol..btw...whats eCO?

  • You should have pointed out the fact the eCO will allow you to file under a pseudonym and you might should have mentioned the motion picture visual arts and the fact you can file in a collection for a lower fee. I filed in 2008 so I know about the beta testing. They have since discontinued that. When you upload a video what they refer to as a deposit at copyright dottttt govvvvv , you can title the collection and make additional upload deposits for the same fee saving money.

  • If I am going to send a tape with the songs would I use form SR or PA?

  • @dbeni4567 You would use SR sound recording form. Don't send them in, cost more and takes longer, upload them via the electronic copyright site, eCO at .gov website, if your infringed send a dmca infringement notification and keep a copy of each one you send in case you have to prove felony *willful infringement to the enforcement department the copyright office. You can fax those in for a seperate file.

  • @floramoore The deal is, you can copyright a whole album.. it's cheaper that way. But if you plan to pull out a single for specific use in licensing then you'll want to register that song individually. And nothing prevents you from registering a whole album and then going back and registering an individual song on that album later.

  • Can u still use the SR form if ur work is unpublished?

  • great video.. i don't know why anyone would pay to have someone else do this for them. also bear in mind that if you own a publishing company and wish to register through your business...... do so when you first register since it costs $104 or more to update the info later... cheers!

  • This is difficult :S I will let someone make it for me its better O,o ! thanks alot for the video helpful

  • ok i have a cd with 11 songs do i have to pay for each one or can i register all at once ?? now what if someone is uising one of my songs with out consulting me can i sue this person ? but if a register the whole cd with 11 song at once paying one fee??????????????????????

  • gr8 movie

but didnt get just 1 thing

if i wanna copyright more than 1 song

do i have to pay multiple times (per song)

or can i copyright them all for the price of one

if i write then all in the same application ?

    thx

  • If you're copyrighting an album, you can submit the whole thing for one fee. If you're doing 1 or 2 songs, you can do the individually.
