ninja were despised, feared and needed by the samurai equally and there were a lot of ninja who aorked as samurai and there were also many samurai who didn't had another choice then work as a ninja, e.g. when they fled from a punishment
and wearing the black pajamas is like shouting out that your a ninja so they hardly wore them!
and as skewCZ already said what does it really has to do with da song ? just sit back, enjoy the song and leave the discussion for another time ;)
Ninja were hiered by the Shogun some other rich people not the Samurai and Ninja were generally merchenaries hired as assassins, spies, infiltrators and much more.
Samurai were more warriors with pride following the code of the samurai always loyal to their master/Shogun.
both are kin from Japan just different source of people...
Don't get me wrong, they're cool, i just don't see how they are relevant to the song.
(in before "they're cool and the song is cool too" or "they're all from Japan")
___
As for the ninja, another belief is they were professional mercenaries, but worked mostly in disguise as spies. Sometimes perhaps as murderers, but not nearly as often. And the black pajamas outfit is probably just modern fabrication.
Ninja were mercenaries hired by Samurai and other important figures to do work that they couldn't directly do themselves due to social image responsibilities.
@ShadowDaPk actually the ninja were generally farmers who weren't as well armed as samurai but used the ability of knowing their area and attacked samurai when they were at their lowest guard and could then blend back into society through the tyranny of the diamyo's which were constantly at war.
killing oneself wasnt about pride or shame, it was about the last possible act a person cna make as an individual. especially for the samurai and ninja who were steeped in obligatoin to society and their fuedal master. through discipline the way was to seek the deep individuality one can attain in the final act of suicide. its not about shame, or getting caught, or pride, its about being a human with a need for individualality.
You know how you see ninjas would vanish in a cloud of smoke. well that concept originated with the "black egg".
they would poke a small hole in an egg, drain it, and fill it with powder. the powder would consist of crushed glass or fine sand. they would use the black egg in situations where they couldn't exactly escape. they would take the egg, crush it and blow the powder in the the opposing side's eyes, making the eyes burn. creating the illusion that they had vanished in a cloud of smoke.
@badflamer haha I did, love that show :D It never ceases to amaze me what TV and the internet can teach me... Of course, I do think about what I see, I don't just blindly accept what they say. Like with all those TV specials about conspiracy, I don't believe the gov't is behind 9/11.
@Vocaloidhism lol i take it you are rasuna? well anyways, it's important to filter what you see on TV but its also important to realize there's no such thing as complete truth or complete lies on TV either.
to go with the example you presented, personally I believe they had a hand in 9/11 without explicitly being the 'cause' of it. Maybe they knew it was going to happen and didn't stop it? maybe more maybe less, i dunno, but i do believe they must have played at least part of a role init.
@badflamer I dunno, I've sided more with the gov't with this one. Especially after seeing a show proving the conspiracists (?) wrong. I dunno, I don't really have an informed opinion, it's more of a partially informed opinion.
@badflamer OH It's that guy you were talking to... Does he have multiple accounts or something?
I dunno, I don't really care much though, 'cause I'm Canadian. Though I doubt I'd care much more if I were American, 'cause I'm just laid back like that.
@Vocaloidhism personally, though i believe there are bound to be conspiracies out there simply because of the never ending greed of humanity, i really wouldn't care if they were proven right or not because, even if they were I'd just be like 'well ok, but not like we can do anything about them though, so we're still boned, just now the ppl boning us don't have to pretend like they're NOT boning us."
Well, the history of the ninja is sketchy (for obvious reasons), but they were said to have amazing escape techniques such as tashibishi, incredible speed, and even the ability to turn invisible, or ninjutsu. Plus, a lot of people say that "ninjutsu", was a skill-set of the samurai, and was to imitate nature, so they wouldn't be noticeable. Some old techniques are Nokizaru (macaque on the roof), and Kusa (grass). Anyway, awesome song.
You could explain suicide in many ways, but for a samourai there's one main:
By opening their skin and showing to everybody what's normally hiden (the flesh of their body) they demonstrate to their lord that they hide nothing to him.
It's a total act of loyalty, it's a symbol that even their lord cannot read their thoughts, they will show him what's behind the apparence.
To be as such loyal and true have a price that no one can estimate...price of life.
they didint kill themselves for their lords. they killed themselves or commited seppuku 4 two reasons, 1 is that they have dishonored their lord or if they are going to be captured by an enemy and their is no way out. they didnt kill themselves just to prove they were loyal seppuku was more about honor then loyalty
as I know, there is also the "harakiri" term, but i'm not sure, if it's used for anything more, than ritual samurai suicide... anyway that's, what i've heard.
i agee XD the ninjas where more like scouts or assasins and if they failet their mission they killed them self with a knife forgot what it whas called
no the samurai commeted seppuku not the ninjas bc samurai were all about honor and ninjas werent. at least im pretty certain ninjas didnt commit seppuku . . . i may be wrong though lol
hehe i've watched over a 100 animes without owning them ( i know i'm an addict) but i cant rlly pick them out of that list altho i do remember images of those animes. but yeah having seen so many its hard to remember wich is wich :)
i could be wrong but ninja is more of a spy and if captured or know they would be captured, will deform their face first (by using knifes or swords) so the enemy would not be able to recognize them or know who the ninja reports to. and later kill them self.
true but thats not seppuku. samuria were bound by honor, ninjas werent they did the dirty work that samuria couldnt or wouldnt do and seppuku was based around honor so im pretty sure ninjas didnt commit seppuku. . . but again i could be wrong =3
i think shaolin monks could whip both the ninja and samurai, at least on a one and one battle lol idk but this is purely my opinion shaolin monks are like the special task force in the martial arts world lol XD
@crescentwater well it would be hard to say honestly. it really just depends on how diciplined each wrrior is. also remember that the three classes had completely different eras of power and would probably never have encountered each-other or very rarely so considering japan's closure to teh outside world during most of its middle ages history. I think it would depend on the warrior himself and his skill at what he does, not the class itself.
samurai and ninjas were enemies so they had to meet quite often bc ninjas were villagers who hated how samurai worked for lords who practically stole from villagers with taxes. at least thats y i think ninjas hated samurai haha lol
@crescentwater samurai and ninja were not enemies. that is just hollywood dramatization.
the samurai and the ninja did not hate eachother any more than the knight and the assassin did. Lords employed both ninjas and samurai under their service and those serving under the same lord had no problem with one another.
in fact it was a hell of a lot more common to see Ninjas and Samurai hate OTHER Ninjas and Samurai respectively (I.E Koga and Iga ninja clans/ the rivalry between musashi and kojiro)
@crescentwater yes well discovery channel and history channel are not the voice of god either. remember they're still networks, they still have to make things slightly interesting so they are often found guilty of, not lying, but sometimes embelishing teh truth.
after all, even if teh knight and teh assassin were not 'mortal enemies' ask a knight what he thinks about an assassin's sneaky methods and he'll say he dislikes them right? Same principle with teh ninja and teh samurai.
@crescentwater *continued from first post* this, however does not mean they were 'sworn enemies' in any sense. why? because they were people, they all had different lives and different experiences and lived by creeds of their own choosing. blindly assuming 'ninjas and samurai hated each other' is just as prejudice as saying 'plumbers must be stupid' or 'black peolple always steal' it's slapping a label on a group of people based solely on one aspect of their whole person.
@MinamatoYoshiie And they are more honorable, and more skilled, and had more of a warrior spirit. I use teachings of Samurai such as Yamamoto Tsunemoto and Miyamoto Musashi to help me with my military training.
Seppuku and Harakiri are the same thing. Even the kanji is the same though the order is reversed. The use of the words is a little different in that Harakiri was used when speaking about the act, while Seppuku was used when writing about the act.
Traditionally Ninjitsu was an art of subterfuge and espionage. This included scouting, spying, and assassination. The weapons and training used in Ninjitsu were the same used by the samurai class including tactics and espionage. The stuff you see today like the Bujinkan is a bastardization of what the Shinobi were. Also known as neo-ninja or ninjakapoops by those that teach and study Koryu arts.

For those who are interrested by samurai's ethics (and don't know anyone with a large knowlegde about it^^)
I advise to read the "Hagakure" (which means "hidden in the foliage"), real textbook of the samurai wrotes by a priest "jocho yamamoto" around 1730.
Cheers!
