The British should have allowed self determination in Cyprus and allowed the 85%majority of Greeks unite with Greece. The Turkish minority should have been protected of course but Turkey had no right to invade and the British with their two bases and the Royal Navy could have prevented a seaborne or airborne assault. The Tripartite pact was wrong Turkey was not all that important as an ally in fact they needed us more than we needed them

The documentary actually shows the viewer how the military junta in Greece tried to use Samson and his paramilitant organization to terrorize the Turkish minority and ensure the annexation of the island to Greece. We did not establish TRNC after Turkish Intervention in 1974. TRNC was established in 1983 until when Turkish side looked for a solution in Cyprus Problem. Greek Cypriots are still the unnegotitable side because we said YES to UN Annan Plan while Greek Cypriots said NO. We opened the borders, what we have got since 1974? Nothing. Even you can not tolerate a football match between an English team & TC team.

The annan plan was not satisfying enough this group of people. When I first started to interest in Cyrpus issue in 2000, the number of missing Greek Cypriots were 1619 and it is 1587 now. They all find their missings in their own backyard. Although Red Cross Records, Turkey's delivering all POWs back, unknown numbers of Greek Cypriot deads by their own coupists, this issue is still being exploited. What do you think?

I have lived for 36 years in Australia and have heard with my own ears a greek lady that she and her children were hidden and smuggled out of the country from her turkish cypriot neighbours. EOKA-B had killed her husband, she was terrified that if she had stayed they might have killed her sons as well. I think EOKA-B shares a great deal of responsibility.

Ever since 1960 Turkey has been seeking to partition Cyprus and ethnically cleanse the Greek Cypriots like it did to the Greeks of Constantinople and Asia-Minor. The Annan Plan was a Turkish ultimatum calling for the creation of an apartheid state and the de-facto partition of Cyprus through the legitimisation of the illegal Turkish occupation and colonisation of Cyprus in violation of the Geneva Convention and the principles of the United Nations.
And it seems that Greeks have done everything (Enosis, Akritas Plan, bloody noel in 1964, 1967 killings, 1967 military coup in Greece, 15 July 1974 coup by Sampson, violation of RoC) to put butter on the bread of Turks in the name of legitimating the so-called Turkis invasion of Cyrpus since 1960.
Nor did it give anyone the right to use force or set foot on Cyprus soil. In fact Turkey was told by the UN Security Council in resolution 186(1964) that any foreign intervention in Cyprus affairs violated Article 2 Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter.
The only thing that the Treaty of Guarantee allowed was for non-military action such as economic sanctions and the right to petition the UN.

The British should have allowed self determination in Cyprus and allowed the 85%majority of Greeks unite with Greece. The Turkish minority should have been protected of course but Turkey had no right to invade and the British with their two bases and the Royal Navy could have prevented a seaborne or airborne assault. the north region of cyprus is occupied lands... since 1974 There have been 100,000 turkish settlers moved in in violation of international law and the geneva convention. This occupied land is not recognized by any country other than turkey (the people who invaded the island). Everyone join the fight to remove 100,000 turkish settlers and 40000 turkish troops from cyprus.

If you're happy claiming N. Cyprus is Turkish go ahead ... you're the ones who are suffering. I visited N. Cyprus - like a 3rd world country compared to the Southern part. Its as though everything has remained unchanged since 1974.

Turkey needs to remove 35k troops and 100k settlers that have been put there in direct violation of the Geneva convention. Turks are a scourge to the island... if you want to get technical turkey has had more military coups then Greece and turkey is in the midst of going through another one because of the election of Gul.. Is this reason for Greece to attack turkey? Should Greece say: look the turks are going through a military coupe lets reclaim Constantinople Smyrna and Cyprus..

I have just been to the vidoe's about the fires in greece. I congratulate all the turkish people who went there to express their sympathy, and it is good that the turkish red cross is in greece helping the people. Turkey, it is very nice of you to help greece in this difficult time, congratulations.

We have an expression in Turkish and I will try to translate as best as I can. "Komsu komsunun kulune muhtactir" which means that a neighbour needs even the ashes of his neighbour. Of course we have to be there while our neighbours are in danger. We are first humans before we are Turks or Greeks. I wish God bless those who have lost their lives in fires and patience to Greek nation.

Those bombs only fell on Greek heads for a week max, the atrocities committed by Greek terrorists and Greek civilians against the Turks lasted for 20 years. You can't even compare the two! What is wrong with you people?We have pictures of Greek priests shooting people. We have evidence of Turkish women and children being raped,&then crucifixes burned on their breasts. The bombs and chemical weapons fell on civilians and their aim was the genocide the Greek Cypriots and drive them out of Cyprus. There is no evidence whatsoever of any atrocities committed by the Greek Cypriots against Turkish Cypriot civilians. What the Greek Cypriots did to Turkish state sponsored terrorists who killed members of both communities since the 1950's was justified by international law and a UN mandate in resolution 186(1964).

The Turkish intervention in Cyprus was fully legitimate under Article 4 of the Treaty of London in 1960 which stipulates that:

We did not establish TRNC after Turkish Intervention in 1974. TRNC was established in 1983 until when Turkish side looked for a solution in Cyprus Problem. Greek Cypriots are still the unnegotitable side because we said YES to UN Annan Plan while Greek Cypriots said NO. We opened the borders, what we have got since 1974? Nothing. Even you can not tolerate a football match between an English team & TC team.

BiFrBiDoBiBi i am neither a greek or a turk. I have no reason not to tolarate a football game. A couple of weeks ago a turkish person asked me what do i think of the annan plan, and the rejection from the greek side. First i wanted to read it and then answer. It took me about three days to do it.

BiFrBiDoBiBi If i was agreek i also would have said no. To understand me, first i will tell you this, I work voluntarily with refugees from all over the world. The annan plan was not satisfying enough this group of people. I do believe and wish that the cyprus problem comes to an end, but it must happen in a way that benefits the people that have lost their properties, and prevent something like this to happen again. I do wish cypriots from both sides the best.

While you said that you work voluntarily with refugees, may I ask you a question? Missing people issue of both sides in Cyprus? When I first started to interest in Cyrpus issue in 2000, the number of missing Greek Cypriots were 1619 and it is 1587 now. They all find their missings in their own backyard. Although Red Cross Records, Turkey's delivering all POWs back, unknown numbers of Greek Cypriot deads by their own coupists, this issue is still being exploited. What do you think?

I have lived for 36 years in Australia and have heard with my own ears a greek lady that she and her children were hidden and smuggled out of the country from her turkish cypriot neighbours. EOKA-B had killed her husband, she was terrified that if she had stayed they might have killed her sons as well. I think EOKA-B shares a great deal of responsibility.

OK! What do you think of non-humanitarian embargoes on Turkish Cypriots since 1974(indeed since 1963). You cant call TRNC directly, you cant fly to TRNC directly, you cant post TRNC directly, they got their all stuff from Turkey, they cant trade, they cant, they cant, they cant. As long as Turkey doesn't give them money about a half billion $ each year, they cant survive. they cant even play a football match with an English team because of the embargo.

Hmmm, the embargo is not targeting the turkish cypriots, although they have to suffer it, but the illegal state that has been set-up. It is mainland turkey that maintains troops there, not the turkish cypriots. The world cannot condone this, it would seem like they agree to invade, occupie and set up a state that's illegal, you know this, it's a matter of the world in general.

Come on who is suffering because of the embargos since 1974? Directly Turkish Cypriots! We are fine here in Turkey if it targets us. Greeks even murdered their own people in 1974 with Turkish Cypriots. How we trust them and withdraw Turkish troops while GC troops buy more weapons each year until a satisfying negotiation is provided? We opened the border and GCs passed the north. what we get? In international relations benefits work. As long as I always give, it does not work.

It would really help the debate if more greeks and turks here instead of swearing, could actually talk to each other in a normal way and put up videos that are truthfull and do not insult each other.

I feel Turkish however my grand ma was Greek and grand pa was Kurdish, I am not a Turkish Cypriot. Indeed I do not like them and their funny accent so much :-) I never insult or swear anybody just because he/she is Greek, Armenian, Kurdish or other because if I do, I know that it makes me and my country ashamed. You are right to find mature people from both sides to debate and thanks for listening Turkish side, too.

Ever since 1960 Turkey has been seeking to partition Cyprus and ethnically cleanse the Greek Cypriots like it did to the Greeks of Constantinople and Asia-Minor. The Annan Plan was a Turkish ultimatum calling for the creation of an apartheid state and the de-facto partition of Cyprus through the legitimisation of the illegal Turkish occupation and colonisation of Cyprus in violation of the Geneva Convention and the principles of the United Nations.

And it seems that Greeks have done everything (Enosis, Akritas Plan, bloody noel in 1964, 1967 killings, 1967 military coup in Greece, 15 July 1974 coup by Sampson, violation of RoC) to put butter on the bread of Turks in the name of legitimating the so-called Turkis invasion of Cyrpus since 1960.

Nor did it give anyone the right to use force or set foot on Cyprus soil. In fact Turkey was told by the UN Security Council in resolution 186(1964) that any foreign intervention in Cyprus affairs violated Article 2 Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter.
The only thing that the Treaty of Guarantee allowed was for non-military action such as economic sanctions and the right to petition the UN.
