Filmfare seriously needs to wake up though...they waited until 2011 to give a Lifetime Achievement to Manna Dey, a play back singer who has been around since the 1940s & they had waited until 1997 to give a Lifetime Achievement Award to Ashok Kumar, a man who had been acting in films since 1936 or so.

@xfmaverickd Lifetime achievement awards are usually given after one retires from the field...so it is very sensible to get it at that age... is what i feel....how can yu expect one to get a "lifetime" achievement award when he's still working?..

@ramashamabhama If Lifetime Achievement Awards cannot be given to people who are "still working" how do you explain the fact that Mr.Amitabh Bachchan was the recipient of the 1st FilmFare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991 (Source: Wikipedia)...he was not retired from the field then & he is not retired from the field now. If your theory were true Filmfare would not have awarded LAA to him even in 2011

@xfmaverickd well, you are right...sometimes the industry is busy looking at commercially successful and influential people as in the case of Amitabh Bachchan.... I have observed that filmfare always ignores offbeat cinema and offbeat actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Paresh Rawal etc who deserve it the most.

@ramashamabhama Exactly! Practically every year, the same crowd gets nominated & walk away with the awards. There are so many immensely talented "Offbeat actors" as you say in the industry who thoroughly deserve recoginition for their acting prowess but without too many commercial successes to their name...others I can think of to add to your list are actors like Nana Patekar & Manoj Bajpai.

OMG,it went to A.R.Rehman?i cant call it a jock ,its a damn mess, Nadeem-Shravan being there with Barsaat, RAja, etc, full of melody, full of touchy music, full of sweetness, how is it possible, it will go to A.R.Rehman, i do resepct His music, but Nadeem-Shravan deserved that billions times more than A.R.Rehman,ohh,i cant see this video again,
