Not using your tongue is one of the dumbest pieces of advice when using a short reed. Geese use their tongue to cut off the sounds so why shouldn't we. We are trying to call geeese so we should try to mimic a goose as much as possible. Don't believe me watch a goose cluck or honk.

@bandhunter21 Like I said before a goose uses it tongue. When you anchor your tongue behind your teeth you essentially stop using your tongue. Try anchoring the tip of your tongue behind your bottom teeth when you talk, you sound like a freaking idiot. Watch a goose cluck or honk it uses the tip of its tongue, just as we use the tip of our tongue to talk. If a goose anchored its tongue at the bottom of its beak it would sound stupid, so imagine what we sound like when you blow a short reed with

@bandhunter21 When I first started calling I anchored my tongue and I did alright with calling. Now I have changed my ways and there are so many more sounds I can make and my calling sounds a ton better. We use the tip of our tongue to talk geese do the same. We are trying to mimic the geese and there sounds so it would make sense that we call geese how geese call geese by using our tongue and not how humans think we should call geese.

The exercise is good and the wild pheasant (only the dumb ones) are real tasty. Much better than a dry old defenseless goose or duck. Plus, did you know that pheasants were introduced to the U.S. via China? Bonus... you don't feel so bad for killing it ! LOL
